My Personal Journey: I am a Muslim African American man, married since 1993, and the father of two adult daughters. Raised as the seventh of ten children in a working-class Catholic family, we successfully transitioned from subsidized public housing to become the first African American family in our middle-class neighborhood. This early cross-cultural experience taught me that struggle is a universal human condition, sparking my lifelong desire to become a therapist.
Following the passing of my father when I was 14, my path briefly pivoted. I spent my late teens and early college years studying Theology and Philosophy to become a Catholic Priest. Ultimately, my deep desire for marriage and family led me back to my original calling of clinical social work, allowing me to blend my spiritual depth with professional therapy.
Professional Background & Expertise: I have been a behavioral health professional since 1984 and a Maryland Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) since 1993. Over decades of independent practice, I have provided clinical therapy, consultation, and Deen/Life coaching to a global clientele across the US, Canada, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
My Therapeutic Approach: I offer a judgment-free, deeply respectful partnership to help you uncover your inherent strengths. I work with clients from all backgrounds to navigate depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship issues, and all forms of addiction (including behavioral compulsions). I customize our work, starting with an eclectic approach and educating each client about the range of treatment options we can collaboratively select to understand and address their conflicts, struggles, concerns, challenges, and the impact of life experiences that led them to seek professional assistance.

Greetings. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in Maryland. I have 15 years experience in trauma-informed care and have experience in many mental health challenges. I believe in holistic approaches to treatment. My goal as a provider is to assist others in developing tools to suit their uniqueness. Our unique lived experience shapes us but we do not have to be defined by it.
My name is Julianne Toy, and I am a licensed therapist with a strong foundation in both education and social work. I earned my Master’s in Education from Concordia University of Portland in 2015, followed by a Master’s in Social Work from Simmons University in 2018. Having training in both fields has been invaluable — it allows me to be creative and flexible in my approach, integrating educational strategies with therapeutic interventions to enhance understanding, growth, and lasting change.
I have worked with individuals across the lifespan — from early childhood through older adulthood — and in a wide variety of settings, including homes, schools, hospitals, jails, courts, community agencies, and offices. I also have extensive experience providing teletherapy in several formats, ensuring accessible and personalized care for clients wherever they are.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a case manager and volunteered for many years with at-risk youth and individuals with developmental disabilities. I also served as a crisis therapist, offering brief interventions and support to individuals at imminent risk. Over the course of my seven years as a therapist, I have provided both individual and group counseling, helping clients navigate a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges.
In recent years, my work has focused on private practice therapy with individuals and couples. Through this work, I have deepened my expertise and integrated several evidence-based therapeutic models to help clients improve their mental health, strengthen their relationships, and build more fulfilling lives. I currently work primarily with adolescents and adults, guiding them toward greater self-awareness, resilience, and well-being.
Listening to others' stories and supporting them in finding positive paths through challenges has always felt like a natural calling. Even as a child, friends would often reach out, and my mom would joke, "Is the doctor in?" Later on, this passion led to volunteering with kids in creative programs and working in hospice care, where deeper connections were formed. These experiences led to a rewarding role at an outpatient community clinic, where people from all walks of life could share their unique journeys and struggles.
My work with clients have included helping those navigate stress, anxiety, mood disorders, and life transitions. The ideal clients are those who are open to exploring interventions and truly wish to understand themselves more deeply. Therapy is not about achieving perfection but rather finding new perspectives on who we are and how we engage with the world around us. Healing and personal growth rarely follow a straight path, and it's the patience and willingness to try that often make the difference in finding the right way forward.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker working with adults and couples navigating relationship challenges, anxiety, and life transitions. Many of my clients are thoughtful and self-aware, yet feel stuck in patterns that continue to shape how they show up in their lives and relationships. My approach is integrative and experiential, helping you move beyond insight into meaningful, lasting change. I also support clients with end-of-life concerns and psychedelic integration, creating space for deeper understanding, connection, and transformation.

I adhere to a strength-based perspective in treatment. Even when times are rough, it is important to remember that everyone does have strengths. A key purpose of going to therapy is to build confidence in yourself. Identifying and highlighting successes is important. Research shows that it is easier to implement change if you are building on existing strengths rather than developing brand new ones.

Are you looking to improve your communication, strengthen your relationships, and manage conflict more effectively? Interpersonal skills are the foundation of healthy and thriving relationships—both personal and professional. If you are recovering from an emotionally abusive or narcissistic relationship and feel disconnected from yourself, therapy can also help you rebuild your identity, strengthen your relationship with yourself, and develop healthier relationship patterns.
I am a relationship counselor, currently providing individual and group therapy for adults aged 18 and older. I specialize in helping clients improve their relationship with themselves through personal growth and the development of healthier interpersonal skills, including communication, conflict resolution, anger management, boundary-setting, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills. Many individuals struggling in unhealthy, emotionally abusive, or narcissistic relationship dynamics often lose their sense of self, confidence, voice, and emotional balance within those relationships. A major focus of my work is helping clients reconnect with themselves, rebuild healthier patterns, and strengthen how they show up in relationships with others.
How you relate to yourself impacts every relationship in your life. When you learn to communicate effectively, set healthy boundaries, manage emotions, and navigate challenges in healthier ways, your relationships often become stronger, more balanced, and more fulfilling. This growth can improve confidence, reduce stress, and support overall emotional wellness.
I provide a supportive environment where clients can increase self-awareness, create meaningful change, and develop healthier connections with themselves and others. Schedule an appointment with me to begin your wellness journey.

Hi there, I'm Myra,
Life takes turns we don't expect, and sometimes we’re able to get through them. Other times we become stuck. Welcome to my page! I greatly appreciate you taking the time to read through and get to know a little bit more about me. I went into mental health therapy because I enjoyed learning about the mind and the brain, and I love being able to help people. While my background is in mental health, I have a license in social work. I enjoy the broader scope that my license affords me. I feel that it allows me to offer a broader perspective on things and serve a wider variety of people.
I aim to expand as I grow and develop in my practice. I want to be able to give the best therapy I can. Which is why I am not only honest with myself about my strengths but also where my limitations are. My goal is for everyone to get the help they need, whether I am the person who provides that or not.
Without going into too much detail, I have had my fair share of adverse experiences. While I was fortunate enough to have people who were well-meaning, they were unable to support me in the way that I needed them to. Being a therapist allows me to be that person who has the tools to support people.

I specialize in working with women and birthing parents through fertility journeys, pregnancy, postpartum, and the many transitions of parenthood. I know this season can feel both beautiful and overwhelming, and my role is to offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you don't have to carry it alone. I approach therapy with warmth, compassion, and a genuine respect for the unique challenges each individual faces. I aim to hold the space for you that might feel difficult to find on your own.
I have over 10 years of experience serving individuals and families that desire to live their fullest potential.
The goal is to provide a relaxed and supportive atmosphere, so your experience will be for learning, progression and a genuinely safe space to share your story. I will create a personalized treatment plan with your participation to assist you with achieving your goals.
As a therapist, I strive to create a non-judgmental space for my clients through warmth, engagement, and sometimes humor. It is my hope that my clients always feel supported by me, even when I challenge them to take accountability and change their patterns. I love to listen, learn, and form relationships with people from all walks of life. I have over 5 years of experience working with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, perfectionism, disordered eating, and stress from work, school, relationships, and/or their families.
With a seasoned background in military life, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with service members and their families—supporting them as they navigate the evolving landscape of military culture and its impact on relationships, identity, and transition. My twenty years of service as an Army chaplain shaped my understanding of resilience, loss, and the power of story in healing. Those experiences continue to inform my work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and AAMFT Approved Supervisor.
Whether you’re seeking support as an individual, couple, or family, I will walk alongside you as you re‑vision your story in ways that feel authentic and empowering. My approach integrates Narrative Therapy, Solution‑Focused Therapy, CBT, and Family Systems perspectives, always centering your voice and values. Together, we’ll explore the beliefs that have shaped your current story, gently deconstruct what no longer serves you, and open space for new, life‑giving possibilities.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process—one that honors your lived experience and invites growth through curiosity and compassion. Our work will focus on listening deeply, identifying patterns that keep you stuck, and cultivating the kind of change that aligns with your preferred future. Whether you’re navigating transition, relational strain, or identity shifts, I offer a grounded, empathetic space where your story matters.
It’s an honor to join clients in this process of re‑authoring their lives, finding coherence amid change, and discovering renewed meaning in the next page of their story.
My name is Dr. Olushola Bakare, and I'm a board-certified Psychotherapist. I attended St Joseph College. I'm happy to help you today with any of your concerns. I enjoy empowering people and digging out their strengths. I don't ask fish to fly, neither do I ask birds to swim. I respect everyone's strengths and help my client recognize them. I love to highlight my client's strengths. I offer a safe, warm, therapeutic, judgment-free space for Adults (18+) and Older Adults (65+). I am sorry, but I do not accept clients who pay in cash. Also, every late cancellation or no-show accrues a late charge fee.
It is my ethical duty to officially terminate our therapeutic relationship when it is reasonably clear that the client is no longer beneficent, services are no longer required, counseling no longer serves the client's needs and interests, or Dr. Olushola Bakare, LMFT limits do not allow the provision of further counseling services.
It is the policy of Dr. Olushola Bakare, LMFT, that our professional relationship will be terminated after a one-month consistent lapse of meeting with a client. Dr. Olushola Bakare, LMFT, will attempt to notify you of this change in status as soon as possible after one month. My ethical duty is identifying, being available, and caring for current clients. It could feel awkward for our relationship to end, yet it is not meant to be discourteous in any way. I do not complete disability forms (Social Security, work excuse, FMLA, Court papers/legal papers, emotional support letters, etc).
NO COUPLE THERAPY OR MEDICATION MANAGEMENT, PLEASE!

If you can read this, you made the first step. Congratulations. Seeking therapy is hard. Most people delay and tell themselves that whatever they are experiencing must be the way life is. Chances are if you have reached the point to begin exploring therapy, counseling can help make your life better. While therapy is often hard, it can be an enjoyable and uplifting experience as well. I believe that you cannot laugh without a combination of insight and relief. You can expect some humor in most sessions.
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 20 years. In that time I have worked with men, women, teens, and families on a wide variety of issues. Sometimes that work simply involved helping them through a particular incident or life change that overwhelmed them. Other times our work together centered around longstanding issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction.
In addition to traditional cognitive behavioral therapy, I also offer a fourth-wave therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). I have found this technique to be highly effective in helping people with trauma and or anxiety. Our minds and bodies are connected. Anyone who has experienced a tight neck and shoulders or an upset stomach when they were stressed knows this. EFT uses acupressure (done by the client) and cognitive interventions to provide fast and effective relief.
With over 20 years of clinical experience, I am ready to help you through the challenges you are facing. In addition to counseling, I also provide vocational testing, coaching, and consulting.
I provide both Christian and secular counseling depending on the needs of my clients.
For clients with high level confidentiality concerns due to corporate or clearance issues, there are ways we can do EFT without you ever speaking out loud about events.

The remarkable moments and the the difficult ones ( in some obvious ways or in subtle ways that sometimes sneak up on us) can cause us to go through life merely surviving or struggling, often feeling alone. It doesn't stop there. Often the life and soul work is also challenging (but rewarding process) , that can make you feel alone too!
My role is to fill in that gap. You do not need to be alone. The work should be experienced in a safe, loving, and understanding environment. As a holder of your pain, your hope, and your light, let me stand by your side and empower you to face obstacles and challenges. Let us go beyond surviving this life, but healing our hearts and mind so we can love and enjoy the moments we have right now, the best we can.
