New to Grow
Welcome! My name is Alexis Tchuise, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with 10 years of experience. I specialize in helping clients overcome depression and anxiety and improve their self-care to become the best version of themselves. My goal is to create a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental space for you to explore your concerns and to develop coping strategies to overcome your challenges. We will identify your goals for treatment and work collaboratively to create a plan to achieve them. When you’re ready to start this brave journey, I’m here and ready to help you! I look forward to getting to know you during our first session and beyond.
During our first session, you will have the opportunity to tell me about what brings you to therapy and what you'd like to achieve from therapy. We will discuss your main goals for treatment and you will be able to ask me any questions you have about the therapeutic process. We will begin to get to know each other to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, respected, and supported.
My strengths include my compassion, empathy, authenticity, open-mindedness, nonjudgmental attitude, cultural humility, and ability to hold space and listen well. I have over 10 years of experience providing treatment in numerous settings including outpatient mental health clinics and a dual-diagnosis treament center for people strugging with both addiction and mental health. I have worked with adults and teenagers with Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder as well as people adjusting to life challenges and transitions like becoming a parent, getting married or divorced, losing a job, grieving, becoming an empty-nester, exploring their gender identity and sexuality, and more. Whatever you are struggling with, I am here to listen and to help you build a path to feeling better.
My ideal clients are ready to make positive changes in their lives, even if they don't know what that looks like yet. They might feel stressed, overwhelmed, or trapped in their current situation, but are hopeful that things can improve. They may be dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, balancing work with family life, navigating divorce and blended families, grief, school stress, or other life challenges. Whatever problems they face, they are motivated to take steps, however small they may be, and at a pace they are comfortable with, to feel better.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients manage anxiety and mood by examining how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impact each other. We will identify recurring thought patterns that are creating issues in your life, challenge negative or distorted thoughts, and replace them with more balanced and realistic thoughts. I also utilize and teach other CBT techniques including relaxation exercises and mindfulness.
I use person-centered therapy to create a safe, non-judgmental space for you to share your story, which is the foundation of treatment. I provide empathy and unconditional positive regard to form a strong therapeutic alliance where you feel supported and fully accepted for who you are.
