Hi there! I believe you are ready to work with a therapist whose work is rooted in compassion, cultural awareness, and intentional growth. If so, I am ready to work with you! I truly enjoy supporting individuals in managing life transitions as they make sense of their experiences and move forward with confidence. My therapeutic work has primarily centered on supporting children, adolescents, young adults, and adult women in various capacities as they navigate identity, relationships, family dynamics, and life transitions. I am especially passionate about creating safe spaces for individuals who are carrying complex family histories, including experiences connected to incarceration, substance use, and generational stress. I believe healing happens in spaces where people feel seen, respected, and understood. My approach integrates evidence-based practices, psychoeducation, and culturally responsive care to help clients better understand themselves, build emotional resilience, and move forward with clarity. In partnership with my clients, I strive to honor past and cultural experiences, understand present life chapters, co-create visions for the future, and help build new perspectives and pathways. Before entering private practice, I spent years working with youth and families in school-based and community-based settings. These experiences shaped my commitment to supporting young people during the critical transition into adulthood, when many are learning to redefine who they are and what they want in their lives. My role is not to tell you who to be, but to walk alongside you as you strengthen insight, develop practical tools, and create the life you want. Lastly, I am a dual-licensed psychotherapist and Board-Approved Supervisor in Washington, DC, and Maryland. In my spare time, I enjoy books, coffee, and my fur babies, Joey, Bella, and Natalie.

I’m a therapist with a social work background, and I work with young and middle-aged adults who are dealing with all kinds of stress in their lives. Over the past decade, I’ve worked with many LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals as they navigate the emotional ups and downs that can come with living in a changing social and political climate. Sometimes that stress shows up as anxiety, low mood, or intrusive thoughts that come and go. Other times, it can feel heavier or harder to manage on your own. I aim to create a space that feels warm, genuine, and welcoming—one where you can show up as you are and talk openly about what’s going on. Our work together is centered on what you need and what healing looks like for you. I’m thoughtful, curious, and supportive, and I also know when to be direct. My goal is to help you build tools to cope, make sense of your experiences, and move forward in a way that feels grounded and sustainable.

Hello! My name is Melissa Maddox, I've been practicing in the mental health field, supporting both adolescents and adults in and around the Rockville area for the last 31 years. Therapy is my passion, and I'm grateful for the trust that every client gives to me when they allow me the chance to assist them in their journey towards positive growth and change. It's not just the trust they put into me, but also the trust they put into the process; a process that I know works. I see therapy as a collaborative effort between me and my clients, and I measure my success as a clinician by the success of my clients. I have a very laid-back style in both my therapeutic approach and my therapy environment. You can expect lots of humor, kindness, compassion, and empathy from me, as well as numerous candy jars, toys, games, and my dog Daisy sleeping through our sessions. I do offer both telehealth and in-person sessions, or a hybrid of both.

I’m a born-and-raised New Yorker, raised by Caribbean immigrant parents who instilled in me the classic Millennial mantra: “You can achieve anything.” And while that belief fueled my ambition, it also came with a side order of generational challenges—perfectionism, chronic stress, anxiety, and a not-so-charming inability to gracefully handle life transitions. You know, the usual. But here’s the thing: hardship turned out to be my superpower. I became ambitious, self-aware, and checked all the right boxes, yet I couldn’t escape the cycle of mental and emotional roadblocks that left me feeling stuck, wondering how to truly move forward. This insight shaped not only my path but the way I guide others on theirs. Through my clinical work, I help high achieving millennials identify their patterns to move out of survival mode and into their surplus by bridging the gap between knowing and feeling —because being stuck isn’t who you are, and settling isn’t your story.

Hi, I’m Dr. Josh Gonsher, a licensed clinical psychologist with a warm, down-to-earth approach to healing. I specialize in helping people navigate anxiety, worry, and stress—not by fighting their symptoms, but by creating a new internal landscape where those struggles no longer take center stage. My approach is grounded in Contextual Therapy. I don’t just help clients “fix” thoughts or behaviors—I work with them to build a more meaningful life, one where old patterns and problems naturally begin to lose their grip. It’s about shifting the frame, not just adjusting the picture. I offer a space that’s collaborative, gently challenging, and deeply respectful of your unique path. You don’t need to “have it all figured out”—just a willingness to begin. Whether you’re dealing with social anxiety, overthinking, burnout, or a general sense of feeling stuck, my goal is to help you move toward a version of life that you choose, one that often feels more grounded, spacious, and aligned with whom you truly are.

I am an experienced therapist licensed in Maryland, Missouri, Ohio, and Kansas. I work with adults seeking thoughtful, results-focused support during periods of stress, transition, grief, or relationship strain. Many of my clients are capable, high-functioning people who feel stuck despite doing all the "right things." They may be managing anxiety, burnout, or relationship challenges while appearing to have it together on the outside. They are looking for more than temporary relief—they want clarity, practical tools, and meaningful change. My approach is active, collaborative, and grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and relational therapy. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we identify the patterns driving distress and build skills that support lasting change. I earned my master's degree from the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University. My name is Dawn Sheree Paramore, a Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health with a Doctorate in Prevention Science, which aligns with my passion for helping individuals heal, grow, and thrive. With over a decade of experience in the mental health field, I specialize in working with individuals navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, and significant life transitions. My approach is rooted in compassion, evidence-based practices, and a deep understanding of the impact of adversity on mental and emotional well-being. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed techniques to help clients recognize and reframe unhelpful thoughts, manage overwhelming emotions, and develop practical coping skills. Through Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), I support individuals in safely processing difficult experiences, building resilience, and regaining a sense of control and safety in their lives. I also incorporate psychoeducation into my work, believing that when clients understand what they’re experiencing and why, they're empowered to take active steps toward recovery. Whether someone is dealing with the effects of childhood trauma, struggling with feelings of worthlessness, or facing significant life changes like loss, career shifts, or relationship challenges, I walk alongside them with empathy and professional insight. I meet people where they are, offering a safe space to explore their story and rewrite it with strength and purpose. My mission is to help people move from surviving to thriving by providing therapeutic support that is both affirming and transformative. Healing is possible, and I’m here to guide that journey with care, skill, and a belief in every person’s ability to rise.

Hello! My name is Douglas Starliper and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) licensed to practice psychotherapy in both Maryland and Virginia! Before becoming a licensed therapist, I spent a career as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division where I deployed four times. The struggles many Veterans are facing today are what galvanized my interest and desire to begin my 2nd career as a therapist. I utilized my GI bill to complete my undergraduate degree at McDaniel College in Westminster, MD and my graduate degree at University of Maryland Baltimore. I recently completed the supervised portion of my career and am currently fully licensed to practice independently as a LCSW-C.

I am a licensed clinical social worker who have been practicing for over 12 years. My passion is working with adults and guiding them in overcoming trauma and healing wounded child parts. This passion is due to my own healing journey as a child who was touched inappropriately, exposed to domestic violence in a military household where my father abused drugs, physically abused my mother, and later experienced the death of my then 3-year-old son. Through my own healing journey, I learned how to "manage" my symptoms after receiving CBT talk therapy and grief counseling but had never healed from my trauma or knew about a wounded child part until receiving my own EMDR counseling. Since then, I have dedicated my life to supporting others who are on their own healing journeys. Before healing, I experienced symptoms consisting of low self-esteem, mood instability, not feeling safe, trust issues, and the need to control everything which negatively impacted my relationships with others. The journey was difficult but successful, thanks to EMDR. Thankfully, your journey doesn't have to be difficult. EMDR and Brainspotting are two highly effective modalities in treating trauma by helping to heal wounded parts through the brain's own healing process. If you're tired of feeling that you're always being judged, feeling stuck and unable to move forward because “something” is holding you back, experiencing trust or relationship issues, not feeling as if you're good enough, or if you're waking up sad, angry, irritable, or depressed and not understanding why, you may have a wounded part that's ready to heal. If so, I would be honored for the opportunity to help the wounded part within you to recognize that they're safe, they can trust, and that they're good enough.

Often, we all go through difficult times. Times of despair, painful circumstances, and distress; Situations that many times affect our peace of mind and our relationships with ourselves and others. Sometimes, we even question the purpose of our lives because we feel like there is no purpose for what we are going through. As a caring clinician, I allow and encouraged my client to create a space for healing, where they feel in control of choosing their own path to freedom and sense of control.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.
