Hello! My name is Nina Zuriff, and I am a licensed therapist specializing in helping individuals navigate life's challenges. I have extensive experience in areas such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and personal growth. My approach is compassionate and client-centered, focusing on creating a safe space for you to explore your feelings and develop strategies to improve your well-being. Together, we can work towards achieving your goals and enhancing your overall quality of life.
In our first session, you can expect to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and specific concerns you have. We will go over your background, current situation, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and for us to establish a comfortable, trusting rapport. We will work together to set initial goals and outline a plan for our future sessions.
My greatest strengths as a provider are my empathetic listening skills, my ability to create a safe and non-judgmental environment, and my personalized approach to therapy. I am deeply committed to understanding each client's unique experiences and tailoring my therapeutic techniques to meet their specific needs. My clients appreciate my genuine care, patience, and dedication to helping them achieve their personal growth and well-being.
I am best positioned to serve clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or those seeking personal growth. My practice is suited for individuals who are motivated to explore their emotions, develop coping strategies, and make meaningful changes in their lives. Wheather you are dealing with stress from work, navigating a major life transition, or striving to improve your self-esteem, I provide a supportive and empathic environment to help you achieve your goals.
I have trained for two years post-graduate in the Psychodynamic approach to therapy. Psychodynamic therapy focuses on exploring the unconscious mind and understanding how past experiences, particularly early childhood experiences, shape current behavior and emotional states. Through discussions and exploration, I will help you identify recurring patterns in your relationships and self-perceptions, develop new patterns, and help facilitate insight and change through a deeper understanding of yourself. In summary, psychodynamic therapy involves a deep dive into past experiences and unconscious processes to understand and address current psychological issues. By exploring these underlying factors, I aim to help clients achieve greater self-awareness and make lasting changes in their emotional and relational patterns.
I use Mindfulness-Based Therapy as a way to offer tools and strategies to clients that I work with. Mindfulness-based therapy (MBT) is a therapeutic approach that integrates mindfulness practices into the treatment of various mental health conditions. Mindfulness, derived from Buddhist traditions, involves paying attention to the present moment in a non-judgmental and accepting way. MBT aims to cultivate this state of awareness and acceptance to help individuals manage their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors more effectively. Here’s how I use it in therapy: Core Principles Present Moment Awareness: Encouraging clients to focus on the here and now, rather than ruminating on the past or worrying about the future. Non-Judgmental Acceptance: Teaching clients to observe their thoughts and feelings without labeling them as good or bad, right or wrong. Self-Compassion: Promoting a kind and understanding attitude toward oneself, especially during difficult times. Utilizing these principles and strategies, clients feel more equipped to deal with difficult emotions and regulate their moods, and be empowered that they have more agency in how they are feeling.
I use CBT as a way to offer clients tools to challenge their negative thought patterns and beliefs that hold them back.
