Even though you may be struggling with something right now, you can choose to: see it in a new way... be open to feeling differently about it... and ultimately, transform. Everything you need is already within you. My role is to help you access it, and use it. I bring curiosity, empathy, and evidence-based therapies -- usually leading with mind-body approaches (e.g., EFT tapping, energy work, breathwork, meditation/mindfulness) and the principles of ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) and IFS (internal family systems therapy) and spiraling out from there as your story leads us. You bring openness, willingness to practice, and neuroplasticity, and you can change -- literally re-wire -- your brain. When you do, you'll be amazed at the cascade of positive changes this creates... not only within you, but all around you in your life. I'm a licensed mental health professional (LCSW-C) in Maryland and have experience as a social worker and therapist working with children and adults of all ages and backgrounds, providing individual and family therapy in a variety of settings (community mental health agency, schools, inpatient and outpatient healthcare). I learn something valuable from each client with whom I'm privileged to work, and deeply appreciate the insights I gain through our work together. It is hard to be vulnerable in therapy. And while I don't yet know your story, I do know that if you are considering therapy, you are already doing the hard work of introspection. It takes courage to seek out more for yourself. You already have my respect and my empathy, and I would love to be part of your journey of healing and discovery.

Hi there, I'm Laurie! Do you wish providers would look at you through a whole person lens instead of discussing health and mental health separately? Are you an adult who likes a more personal, connected approach to therapy? Do you have a teen who has had difficulty connecting to other providers? Well look no further! I enjoy using storytelling, videos, and conversation to help clients of all ages improve self-esteem, self-worth and gain a better understanding of sense of self. A licensed clinical social worker and board-certified supervisor with over 25 years of experience working with children, teens, and adults, I spent much of that time working for the world-renowned Kennedy Krieger Institute, a Johns Hopkins affiliate, where I was also in leadership. I have post-graduate certificates in Treating Children & Adolescents, Leadership, Fitness Nutrition, and Integrative Medicine for Mental Health providers. More personally, I love hiking, watching Marvel movies, lifting weights, and crowd surfing at concerts. I believe we should never stop playing like children!

I’m a born-and-raised New Yorker, raised by Caribbean immigrant parents who instilled in me the classic Millennial mantra: “You can achieve anything.” And while that belief fueled my ambition, it also came with a side order of generational challenges—perfectionism, chronic stress, anxiety, and a not-so-charming inability to gracefully handle life transitions. You know, the usual. But here’s the thing: hardship turned out to be my superpower. I became ambitious, self-aware, and checked all the right boxes, yet I couldn’t escape the cycle of mental and emotional roadblocks that left me feeling stuck, wondering how to truly move forward. This insight shaped not only my path but the way I guide others on theirs. Through my clinical work, I help high achieving millennials identify their patterns to move out of survival mode and into their surplus by bridging the gap between knowing and feeling —because being stuck isn’t who you are, and settling isn’t your story.

I’m delighted to see that you have taken a step towards investing in You! I will challenge you to think outside of the box. My priorities in therapy are helping clients build awareness around negative thoughts and finding the drive to build skills needed to support change. I pride myself on being empathetic, authentic, and open. I will consider your life experiences, cultural background, and values to meet you where you are. My goal is to create the most positive therapeutic relationship and open atmosphere. I am an Army Veteran, and I have a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I am also a certified transformation and life coach that empowers individuals to make and sustain positive life changes. I help individuals who are struggling with different aspects of their lives. As a clinician, I work with individuals who are seeking mental health care for anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, individuals who may have a lack of motivation, needing guidance towards self-care, and ways to become a better person in general. The motivation to begin a private practice came from years of working with many different individuals in mental health and realizing that there is not a ‘one fits all’ scenario to helping people. I wanted to reach more people in a more authentic manner.

Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been in private practice for the past two years. However, my clinical experience goes far beyond that. I have worked in an inpatient setting, as well as along side of victims of domestic abuse. I love working with teen and women specifically. I have done a good bit of family therapy as well as crisis intervention in my previous clinical work. I feel passionate about empowering my clients and meeting them where they are in their journey toward meeting their own personal goals.

Hello, I’m Kumi Pledger, LCPC, and I am currently accepting new clients. I am also available on Sundays to better accommodate busy schedules. I provide therapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and LGBTQ+ clients. I support individuals facing a wide range of concerns, including healing from traumatic experiences, navigating relationship challenges such as narcissistic abuse, managing anxiety, low motivation, and stress, supporting new and expectant mothers, addressing eating disorders, adjusting to new environments or careers, coping with grief and loss, and improving sleep and insomnia. My work is grounded in creating a safe, compassionate, and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. I combine professional training with personal insight to help clients reduce anxiety, eliminate unwanted behaviors, restore emotional balance, and reconnect with joy, purpose, and confidence in their lives. I work best with clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or pulled in many directions, particularly during life transitions or periods of identity change. Many of my clients appear strong and capable on the outside but feel exhausted, disconnected, or uncertain internally. I understand the complexities of cultural expectations, family dynamics, and the pressure to manage multiple responsibilities. My ideal client is ready to gain clarity, strengthen boundaries, and live more authentically. Clinically, I integrate evidence-based approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, and culturally responsive therapy. These approaches help clients increase self-awareness, identify patterns contributing to distress, and develop practical coping strategies that support long-term growth and healing. If you often feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or unsure of your next steps, you are not alone. Life transitions, parenting responsibilities, cultural pressures, and personal identity challenges can create stress and uncertainty. With the right support, meaningful change is possible, and I am here to help guide you on that journey.

Hi, I'm Lindsay. I am here to help you on your healing journey. I believe that each and every person holds all of the wisdom they need to overcome life’s traumas directly within themselves. My job as a therapist is to help shine a light on your own inner wisdom, and guide you through the healing process in a safe, nonjudgmental space. I believe that when we have the tools to attune ourselves to our mind, body and spirit we come home to ourselves. And when we are at home within ourselves, we are free. Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Maryland rather than a city like Baltimore?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Maryland. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Maryland from Hagerstown to Ocean City! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Maryland.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Depression?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Depression, is filtering therapists in Maryland that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
