New to Grow
I am Elizabeth Jones, LCSW-BACS, QSSW from New Orleans, LA. I received my Masters of Social Work from Tulane University. My professional experience has allowed me the opportunity to support children, adolescents, and adults in the state of Louisiana for the past 11 years, and more recently the states of Rhode Island and Maryland. I have experience supporting individuals in schools (traditional & alternative), outpatient behavioral health clinics (community & school based), corrections and homelessness. My goal is to create an open, safe space where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment, and where individuals can be supported with improving their overall quality of life.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The first session is primarily about getting to know you and helping you feel comfortable. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, what concerns you most right now, and what you hope will be different in your life. You will not be pressured to share anything before you are ready. I understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating, so I focus on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can speak openly. I will also ask some background questions about your history, current stressors, supports, and strengths so I can better understand the full picture of your experiences. Together we will begin identifying goals and discuss how therapy can realistically help. You can expect the session to feel conversational, supportive, and collaborative rather than clinical or interrogative.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My therapeutic approach is centered on building trust and providing a space where clients feel respected and understood. With over 11 years of experience across schools, outpatient behavioral health, corrections, and homelessness services, I bring a practical and adaptable perspective to therapy. I am comfortable working with a wide range of ages and life circumstances and adjust my approach to meet each client’s individual needs. I consider one of my greatest strengths is the ability to help clients feel at ease, even if they are unsure about therapy. I focus on helping clients develop coping skills, emotional awareness, and healthier ways of responding to stressors in their daily lives. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all advice, I work collaboratively with clients to create realistic strategies they can actually use outside of sessions. My goal is not only symptom relief, but long-term improvement in functioning, confidence, and overall quality of life.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My clients are often individuals who want change but are unsure where to begin. Some come motivated and ready to do the work, while others feel hesitant due to uncertainty or past negative experiences with counseling. I especially enjoy supporting those who may feel misunderstood or discouraged about starting therapy. My goal is to meet you where you are, help you feel heard, and work collaboratively toward improving your quality of life in realistic and manageable ways.
