If you are looking for a therapist who will spend time figuring out your personal needs- whether that is how we work together or what specific mode of treatment works best for you- I believe that I may be a good fit for you. I have spent my years as a therapist both keeping abreast of all of the most up-to-date approaches to care, but more importantly, I continue to challenge myself as an individual to consider the needs of the people and world around me so that I may offer the best treatment possible. Mental healthcare is my passion, and I pride myself on not only providing a high quality of care, but also being a therapist that my clients can look to expect a close and collaborative relationship. I have worked in various settings throughout the years including foster care, out-patient mental health clinics, dialysis clinics, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes. We can all feel depressed or anxious at times, but when we feel that way for a prolonged period, it may be time to consider getting support. People suffering from depression often experience symptoms such as isolation, negative self-talk, low motivation, sleep disturbance, low energy, hopelessness, helplessness, etc. When someone is suffering from anxiety, they often experience excessive worrying, agitation, irritability, restlessness, intrusive thoughts, difficulty concentrating, difficulty in social situations, panic attacks, etc. These are all things that I can help you with.

I have been working with individuals, families and couples for over 25 years in Maryland. Over that time, I have experience on how to engage and team with clients to help them make meaningful progress in their lives. Most often, I use a trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral approach to the work. Trauma events (single events or long-time exposure) can affect how we think and behave. Understanding how trauma impacts us biologically as well as emotionally can help us I adhere to a strength-based perspective in treatment. Even when times are rough, it is important to remember that everyone does have strengths. A key purpose of going to therapy is to build confidence in yourself. Identifying and highlighting successes is important. Research shows that it is easier to implement change if you are building on existing strengths rather than developing brand new ones.

Hello and welcome. My name is Barb and I am an LCSW-C located in Frederick County, MD. Over the past 2 decades in the mental health field, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of various therapeutic techniques and methodologies from working in clinical out-patient and hospital based settings with children, teens, couples and adults. For the past 11 years, I've been doing private practice based work and have been primarily virtual since 2023. I attended the University of Maryland at College Park for my Bachelor’s in Psychology and then received my Masters in Clinical Social Work (with a minor in Program Administration) from the University of Maryland in Baltimore in 2001. I currently provide telehealth therapy to adult women ages 18-65 years old experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, low self esteem, single motherhood, burnout from career, family responsibilities, and relationships, problems in their marriage, family or personal life, chronic health/medical issues that impact mental health, and trauma from current or past relationships. I also work with women dealing with fertility issues, complicated pregnancy, infant loss, premature delivery, and postpartum mental health and adjustment issues. I have a lot of experience working with teachers and nurses. Also, being a single mother myself, I'm aware of the unique challenges single moms deal with and can offer a relatable perspective to women in this situation. **I currently do not provide therapy to men.** As a Christian, I'm happy to discuss with you how to use Scripture, prayer and your relationship with God to support you in your path to wellness, health and healing if that is something that is important to you. I am open to clients of all faiths and backgrounds. If your faith or spiritual beliefs are important to you, we can discuss how to integrate those into our sessions.

Hello! Thanks for visiting my profile. I’m originally from Philadelphia and now based in Baltimore. I went to graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin, where I studied Social Work and Latin American Studies. I have worked in the social services field for over 15 years and have been a licensed social worker and practicing therapist for 7 years. Most of my experience has consisted of working with survivors of violence (family, intimate partner, and/or sexual violence) as well as with Spanish-speaking immigrants. I enjoy working with caregivers and their children and with mixed status immigrant families. Although I am not Hispanic/Latine, I lived in Peru for about 5 years and speak Spanish fluently, so I am comfortable providing therapy in Spanish. At this time, I specialize in supporting adolescents and young adults (ages 16+) who are managing anxiety or undergoing life changes. As a community organizer myself, I also enjoy supporting fellow organizers who are experiencing burnout. I typically offer short-term (10-15 sessions) with a solution-focused approach. Additionally, I provide mental health evaluations in English and Spanish for immigrant clients who are looking to support their legal cases (asylum, U-Visa, VAWA, and extreme hardship waivers). Because these are completely separate from therapy sessions, please schedule a consultation call only so that we can discuss this option.

Welcome. Wherever you are on your healing journey, I am glad you are here! I am a Holistic psychotherapist, reiki master practitioner, acupuncture detoxification specialist and yoga teacher practicing in Maryland and Virginia. With 10+ years of clinical counseling experience, I specialize in the treatment of mood disorders and addiction (substances/sexual/food/behavioral) by utilizing a holistic healing framework focused on mind/body/spirit connection. Holistic Psychotherapy is rooted in the knowledge that you do not need to be fixed. Rather, the conditioned ways that you think, feel, and respond to the world may be getting in the way of your wholeness. Individual counseling sessions will help uncover issues limiting you from achieving true health and fulfillment. In that sense, the therapeutic process is not so much adding on or creating a new persona, it is about removing the layers of what is false and blocking you from living the life you want.

Hello, I'm Dr. Ebonee. Do you feel pulled in a million directions, struggling to keep up with relationships, work, and health? Is it hard to be kind to yourself? I help individuals manage anxiety, avoid burnout, and break free from cycles of trauma, stress, and self-doubt. Together, we can identify what’s not working and get you back to balance. My interest in spirituality, which is not tied to any specific religion, allows me to offer a holistic approach to healing that addresses the emotional, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of well-being. I emphasize trauma’s role in shaping core beliefs, psychosocial stressors, and generational patterns, recognizing its imprint on the central nervous system. My approach integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), coaching, and positive psychology to reframe trauma narratives, foster self-discovery, and disrupt patterns of depression, anxiety, and re-traumatization. Whether you're navigating trauma, relationship challenges, or cycles of stress and overwhelm, I provide a safe space where healing begins. I know it may seem impossible, but what if I told you that you have the power to change your life? Now is the perfect time to start your healing journey. In our sessions, I’ll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques to help you overcome the hangups and habits holding you back. Let’s work together to build communication strategies, set boundaries, break cyclical trauma patterns, and foster self-worth for long-term stability. I’m excited to be on this journey with you! Here's a helpful video that explains the therapeutic process and what you can expect during your healing journey. https://youtu.be/R4B9BPBiIHo?si=HGNawKl7l1gVUv-z

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Maryland rather than a city like Baltimore?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Maryland from Hagerstown to Ocean City! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Maryland.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Grief?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Grief, is filtering therapists in Maryland that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
