Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and provide virtual counseling services to those residing in FL, MD, MI, and VA. I received my Masters from the University of Michigan and have been practicing for 15 years. I specialize in women-specific counseling, addressing the unique challenges that women face, including issues related to self-esteem, confidence, fertility, pregnancy and postpartum concerns, anxiety, grief, stress and life transitions. I also specialize in working with women and families with a connection to adoption.
In a first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming environment where they have the space to share their story, concerns, and goals at a pace that feels comfortable for them. This initial session is all about building a connection and establishing a foundation of trust. I’ll ask questions to understand their unique experiences, challenges, and what they’re hoping to achieve in counseling. We may discuss any specific issues they’re facing related to self-esteem, confidence, stress, anxiety, life transitions, fertility, pregnancy, or adoption, and how these issues impact their daily life. I’ll explain my approach, answer any questions they have, and work with them to set clear, achievable goals for our sessions together. They can also expect to discuss what a safe, supportive environment looks like for them so that they feel fully comfortable and empowered throughout our work. My goal for the first session is to ensure they feel heard, respected, and understood and leave with a sense of hope and direction for our journey ahead.
As a provider, my greatest strengths lie in my empathy, my specialized understanding of women’s unique challenges, and my commitment to creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel fully seen and understood. I approach each client with warmth, patience, and deep respect for their individual journey, which helps to build a strong foundation of trust and openness. I am skilled at helping clients identify and address core issues while empowering them to tap into their strengths, cultivate resilience, and develop healthy coping strategies. My goal is to create a collaborative process that not only fosters healing but also empowers clients to lead more confident and fulfilling lives.
A key part of CBT is cognitive restructuring, where we challenge these irrational thoughts and replace them with more balanced, realistic alternatives. Through this process, clients begin to see that their thoughts are not always accurate or helpful and that they have the power to change their thinking patterns. In addition to cognitive restructuring, I use behavioral techniques to help clients take action and implement the changes they want to see in their lives. I also emphasize mindfulness and relaxation techniques as part of CBT, particularly for clients dealing with chronic stress or emotional dysregulation. By practicing mindfulness, clients learn to observe their thoughts and emotions without judgment, which helps them detach from unhelpful thinking patterns and reduces emotional reactivity. Ultimately, I use CBT to help clients develop healthier thinking patterns, build coping skills, and make lasting changes in their behavior. Whether they are dealing with anxiety, depression, perfectionism, or life transitions, CBT helps clients gain greater insight into how their thoughts affect their emotions and actions. Through this process, they learn to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence, resilience, and self-compassion.
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) is a powerful and transformative approach that I have integrated into my practice to help clients build emotional resilience, self-acceptance, and a healthier relationship with themselves. CFT is grounded in the understanding that many individuals struggle with feelings of shame, self-criticism, and low self-worth, which can contribute to emotional distress such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. The core of CFT is to cultivate self-compassion, which can be a powerful antidote to these negative emotional states and create a foundation for healing and personal growth. In my practice, I use CFT to help clients develop a more compassionate and non-judgmental relationship with themselves
My use of feminist therapy in practice is grounded in several key principles, including empowerment, social justice, equality, and intersectionality. These principles shape how I approach therapy and how I work with clients, particularly those who identify as women, gender-diverse individuals, or marginalized communities. In working clients, I strive to create a space that is both validating and empowering, acknowledging the societal structures and gendered experiences that may contribute to their emotional and psychological distress.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a practical, goal-oriented therapeutic approach that I have used extensively in my practice to help clients achieve meaningful change in a short amount of time. In my practice, I use SFBT to guide clients toward positive, measurable change, whether they are dealing with anxiety, relationship issues, or major life transitions. By fostering a strengths-based, future-oriented approach, I help clients create lasting solutions that improve their emotional well-being and quality of life.
In my practice, Strengths-Based Therapy provides a powerful, affirming approach to therapy that centers clients as the experts in their own lives. By recognizing and leveraging their strengths, clients can overcome obstacles, build resilience, and create lasting change. This method not only empowers individuals but also fosters a sense of hope, purpose, and agency in their therapeutic journey.
