Hi, my name is Candace, but you can call me Candy, I have worked in the mental health field for 20 years and have been licensed for 4 years. This experience has allowed me to gain vast knowledge in the many nuances that can affect one’s life. I have been honored by each person that I’ve worked with as they have allowed me a windows view of their life and the issues each of them had while working together as a team to overcome these issues. My thought on counseling is that the person seeking therapy and the therapist are a team and work together as a team to find solutions and overcome the issues at hand. I have a desire to use my empathetic and compassionate nature along with my skillset and experience to help people find and utilize services, coping skills and solutions that will assist them in gaining a better quality of life. I do this by providing a confidential safe and judgment free place for those seeking therapy to discuss their situations and needs. I use a strengths-based approach along with cognitive behavioral therapy and thinking outside the box to help people in identifying and reaching their goals.
Our first session will be a getting to know you session along with deciding on goals and setting up an individualized treatment plan.
One of my biggest strengths is my ability to help others see the positives in themselves assisting them to build their self-esteem and have a brighter outlook. I am also good at thinking outside the box for simple solutions and have a great knowledge of community resources. I am not afraid to advocate for others when it is called for.
My clients are seeking a nonjudgmental safe space in which they can discuss happenings, stressors and issues that they are experiencing in their lives. They are looking for coping skills and tools to help them navigate their journey successfully.
In using this type of treatment i provide a non judgmental atmosphere where people can share their feelings without fear of being criticized . I have 54 years of life experience and over 20 years experience working in mental health in one way or another. I find it quite easy to empathize with most people and their situations. I like to work with people as a partner and together we will find positive strategies and solutions.
I have worked with CBT for multiple years and have a knack for helping others to see things from a different perspective.
I work with and view each individual as a partner and that each person are their own expert on themselves.
