Hi, my name is Candace, but you can call me Candy, You have taken the first and often hardest step in bettering your life by seeking help! beginning therapy can be scary and people often feel vulnerable when doing this. one of my attributes is to try and make this journey as comfortable as possible for you. I have worked in the mental health field for more than 20 years and have been licensed for 6 years. My vast experience has allowed me to gain knowledge in the many stressors that people may face during their life. . I have been honored by each person that I’ve worked with as they have allowed me a windows view of their life and the issues each of them had. My thought on counseling is that the person seeking therapy and the therapist are a team and work together as a team to identify goals, find solutions and overcome the issues at hand. I have a desire to use my empathetic and compassionate nature along with my experience to help people find and utilize services, coping skills and solutions that will assist them in gaining a better quality of life. I do this by providing a confidential safe and judgment free place for those seeking therapy to discuss their situations and needs. I use a strengths-based approach along with cognitive behavioral therapy and thinking outside the box to help people in identifying and reaching their goals.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session will be a getting to know you session along with deciding on goals and setting up an individualized treatment plan.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
One of my biggest strengths is my ability to help others see the positives in themselves assisting them to build their self-esteem and have a brighter outlook. I am also good at thinking outside the box for simple solutions and have a great knowledge of community resources. I am not afraid to advocate for others when it is called for.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My clients are seeking a nonjudgmental safe space in which they can discuss happenings, stressors and issues that they are experiencing in their lives. They are looking for coping skills and tools to help them navigate their journey successfully and willing to work as a partner with me.
Strength-Based
In using this type of treatment i provide a non judgmental atmosphere where people can share their feelings without fear of being criticized . I have 54 years of life experience and over 20 years experience working in mental health in one way or another. I find it quite easy to empathize with most people and their situations. I like to work with people as a partner and together we will find positive strategies and solutions.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have worked with CBT for multiple years and have a knack for helping others to see things from a different perspective.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I work with and view each individual as a partner and that each person are their own expert on themselves.

I found it very easy to talk with Candace. She has experienced grief and was the primary caregiver for her father. Candace understood what I was dealing with for the past year and a half with my wife. Candace is going to develop an action plan for me which will help me deal with the loss of my wife,

Candy is a warm, genuine presence and a breath of fresh air. After moving across the country, I feared having to go through the motions of finding a provider who fits my needs and lose the drive to do so. Candy was not only welcoming and patient when we first started, but she's been very encouraging and insightful as well from day one. Her words and sentiments are heartfelt and authentic, and she's such a wonderful person to chat with that I look forward to our sessions. Thank you, Candy!
