I’m Terah Ryan, a Clinical Social Worker and therapist in Michigan, Maryland and the District of Columbia. It’s my commitment to create a safe place for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, patterns, and relationships to create a more meaningful self. I work with adults of all ages experiencing concerns such as chronic illness, grief, loss, relationship or family issues, anxiety, and troublesome or stressful life transitions. My clients find me to be supportive, collaborative, and direct. I also have substantial experience working with healthcare professionals and supporting caregivers of loved ones.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we'll review your history and intake documentation and dive a little deeper into your goals for beginning therapy. We'll make a plan for care moving forward and you'll leave with a brief (promise!) writing assignment to bring back in our next session.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I personally understand the benefits of therapy and believe anyone motivated for change can benefit from the therapeutic process. I have many years of experience working in health care systems and supporting persons with acute and chronic illnesses, as well as their loved ones and caregivers. I'm direct and relatable and, at times, like to make therapy fun!

The people I work with are motivated for change, committed to self-growth, and interested in the therapeutic process. My approach to therapy is client centered. It is shaped by many psychotherapy models, rooted in Narrative Therapy, influenced by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and includes the practice of mindfulness and breathing techniques.
