I'm a licensed MSW (master social worker) in Michigan. I use solution focused counseling to help you figure out what positive changes you'd like to make and what small changes you can start with. I enjoy working with a wide variety of people and concerns. Solution Focused Therapy is a very practical and effective form of counseling. Most of the clients who gravitate towards my services want to take action and start making changes right away. They don't want to just talk about their problems, they want to get ideas for specific things to do and move on with their lives. They don't want to be in counseling for years and want a counselor who appreciates that too.

As an individual who struggled with alcohol addiction, depression, and anxiety, my life experiences, as well as my education and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of my life, have provided me with the opportunity to serve those who are struggling with life. Everyone has life struggles. I am prepared to help individuals and couples learn how to live life amidst struggles, such as depression, addiction, worry, financial stress, or marriage difficulties. I am blessed and honored to be in a position to use the gifts God has entrusted me with to serve others. My specialty area is addictions. I struggled with alcohol addiction for about 23 years. Through God's redeeming grace and an excellent education, I am well equipped to help those struggling with addiction and the anxiety, depression, worry, and fear that may or may not be attached to the addiction. My life experience with addiction has equipped me with an understanding about addiction. Not just for the individual, but for the affected family/social network as well. My education at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary has also equipped me with God's ultimate resource for our afflictions - The Word of God.

I am an LMSW, soccer coach, and former collegiate athlete. Formerly the Ehrenberg Family Fellow for Athletic Counseling in the University of Michigan Athletic Department. I provided mental health and athletic performance care for up to thirty Division 1 varsity student-athletes. I received my master’s degree from the University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2020. My passion is to help individuals become masters of themselves and to help them accomplish their goals. I work from a social justice lens to be culturally sensitive, utilizing strength-based, solution-focused interventions. I strive to work collaboratively toward clients’ objectives. I have worked with patients on athletic performance, injury support, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, sleep issues, relational stressors, grief/loss, trauma and suicidality. My approach is foundationally a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) framework, and I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I intend to earn my certification in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). The area I am most passionate about is the study of traumatic, toxic-stress, and mind/body symptoms. I have been interested in how trauma extends beyond some of the more historic notions of PTSD and ACEs. I myself was a collegiate athlete and, through many hardships and obstacles, on and away from the field, went through my own mental health journey. After coaching youth soccer for eight years since college, it became apparent to me that we had been neglecting the mental health of athletes and, oftentimes, of youth in general. In turn, my biggest motivation became de-stigmatizing mental health problems, particularly in the world of sport, and being a spokesperson for the value of therapy.

I grew up in the Cleveland area and then came to Michigan where I completed my Bachelor's degree at Hope College where I studied social work. While in school I completed a field placement working as a probation officer and spent time in Mental Health and Sobriety Treatment Court. After graduation, my now husband and I moved back to Cleveland where I completed my Masters in Social Work with a specialization in Health Studies at Case Western Reserve University. While in school I completed internships with the Cleveland Clinic in their Adolescent Psychiatric Unit as well as an interdisciplinary internship at Care Alliance. Following graduation, I worked in admissions for psychiatric and detox services for six years. I then wanted to expand my skill set and pursued a position providing therapy to health care employees as an EAP counselor at a local hospital system. I found that I really love the opportunity to get to know my clients and to walk alongside them on their journey.

About Me Hi, I’m a Licensed Clinical Master’s Level Social Worker (LMSW) based in Michigan. For over 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals, families, children, and veterans as they navigate life’s struggles. Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by marital conflict, discouraged by low self-esteem, or stressed by the demands of work, parenting, and relationships. Others are parents seeking guidance for children and preteens with ADHD, needing support with school challenges, IEPs, 504 plans, and academic success. No matter the circumstance, I strive to meet clients where they are, honoring their unique story and helping them feel seen, supported, and understood. I provide compassionate, client-centered, and strength-based therapy, using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), trauma-informed therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. Together, we focus on building coping skills, behavior management, communication skills, resilience training, and emotional balance. My goal is to support you in finding practical coping tools while also fostering confidence, personal growth, and healthier relationships at home, school, and work. With over 15 years of experience working with veterans, I also support trauma recovery, reintegration into civilian life, and connection to housing and community resources. I bring a culturally responsive lens to my work with immigrants and first-generation individuals, supporting identity development, acculturation, family conflict, and multicultural stress. Whether you are an adult managing workplace stress and relationship challenges, a parent seeking counseling or parent coaching for your child’s ADHD, or someone looking to rebuild confidence and self-esteem, I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore, heal, and grow. My mission is to provide therapy and emotional support that helps you feel empowered, supported, and equipped to move forward with greater clarity, strength, resilience, and overall wellness.

Whether there has been a significant loss, a life transition, relational conflict, or daily stressors, we all need support during difficult times. Sometimes, however, a trained professional can help navigate these challenges and assist in facilitating positive change. We aren’t always able to recognize the underlying cause of our discomfort or find ways to overcome life’s challenges. In a therapeutic setting, we will work together to discover healthier ways for you to deal with life’s struggles, make desired changes, improve relationships, and find inner healing. Seeking therapy can be viewed as an investment in yourself. Improving mental and emotional health is as important as one’s physical health. My role is to provide a safe space and come alongside you on your journey. I work with adolescents and adults and provide individual, couples, and family counseling services. I treat depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, (PTSD), relationship issues, parenting, behavioral concerns, and many other problems affecting how we feel and operate in the world.

From a young age, I understood that life doesn’t come with a playbook. We all face challenges—some expected, others that knock us off our feet. Over time, I discovered the power of listening, holding space, and of helping others find their way through to reach their desired outcome. As a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with a background in performance coaching and trauma-informed care, by bringing both clinical expertise and a holistic approach to therapy. Whether you’re a teen exploring identity, a young adult feeling stuck or overwhelmed, a parent managing stress, or someone navigating grief or major life transitions. I am is here to support you. Specializing in anxiety, life transitions, emotional resilience, and inner child healing, I create a space that’s welcoming, down-to-earth, and grounded in trust. Therapy with me isn’t about judgment or quick fixes. It’s about partnership, deep insight, and helping you build the tools to move forward with confidence. No matter your age or stage in life, i believe healing starts with feeling seen and supported. And from the moment you walk through the door (or log on), you’ll know, you don’t have to do this alone.

I am a counselor who embodies empathy, compassion, and motivation in guiding my clients toward healing and self-discovery. My training in TEAM CBT, developed by Dr. David Burns, emphasizes the transformative power of confronting negative thoughts to drive positive emotional change. This method, rooted in the principle that 'The Truth Shall Set You Free,' focuses on identifying and challenging cognitive distortions. Additionally, as a Christian Counselor, I seamlessly integrate Christian principles with traditional talk therapy and TEAM CBT, ensuring that these approaches complement rather than conflict. This holistic blend allows for a therapy experience where clients address their mental health challenges and find deeper meaning and alignment with their spiritual beliefs.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Michigan rather than a city like Detroit?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Michigan from Grand Rapids to Warren! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Michigan.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Grief?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Grief, is filtering therapists in Michigan that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
