New to Grow
My approach to therapy is solution-focused, compassionate, and centered on helping clients build lasting skills. Rather than simply helping someone get through the current crisis, I want to equip them with the tools they need to navigate future challenges with greater confidence and independence. I focus on identifying and addressing the underlying issues that drive recurring patterns, whether that's unresolved childhood trauma, deeply held negative beliefs about oneself, or other core experiences. My goal is to help clients process those experiences, challenge unhelpful cognitions, and develop healthier, more adaptive beliefs about themselves. While it's important to acknowledge and address what's happening in a client's life right now, I believe lasting change comes from understanding and working through the deeper patterns that contribute to those challenges. I strive to balance supporting clients through present-day concerns with helping them create meaningful, long-term change.
To give you an idea of what to expect, I'd like to tell you a little about how I work. In our first session, I'll usually start by asking what you'd like to work on and what you've been processing lately. At the same time, I'll be gathering some background information about you, such as your living situation, relationships, personal history, and other areas that help me understand your experiences. This is part of getting to know you as a whole person, not just the challenges that brought you here. My goal is to understand both what's happening in your life right now and the deeper patterns that may be contributing to those concerns, so together we can develop a plan that helps you create meaningful, lasting change.
"I often think of the saying, 'Give a person a fish, and they eat for a day. Teach a person to fish, and they eat for a lifetime.' That's how I view therapy. My goal is not only to help you through your current challenges but also to help you develop the insight, skills, and confidence to navigate future challenges on your own."
I have experience working with a diverse range of clients across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults. My clinical background includes supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, as well as those experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, and general life stressors. I also work with clients navigating relationship challenges, including those impacted by narcissistic abuse or difficult relational dynamics. Across these populations, my focus is on helping clients build insight, develop coping skills, and work toward meaningful and lasting emotional and psychological growth.
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy helps people identify the patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to emotional distress or unwanted behaviors. Together, we explore the situations that trigger these patterns, examine the thoughts and beliefs connected to them, evaluate whether those thoughts are accurate or helpful, and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding. The goal is to build practical coping skills and create lasting behavioral change.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
Cognitive Processing Therapy is a trauma-focused form of cognitive behavioral therapy. It helps people understand how a traumatic experience has affected the way they think about themselves, others, and the world. Together, we identify beliefs that may be keeping them stuck, examine those beliefs, and develop more balanced ways of thinking so they can reduce distress and move forward
Grief Therapy
Grief therapy provides a supportive space to express and process the emotional experience of loss, while normalizing the wide range of thoughts and feelings that come with grief and helping clients understand grief as a natural and individual process.
Mind-body approach
A mind-body approach looks at how thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations are all connected, and how what we experience emotionally can show up in the body and affect how we feel overall.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a therapeutic approach that supports clients in exploring mixed feelings about change, while helping them clarify their own reasons and readiness to move forward in a way that aligns with their values.
