Hello, my name is Eric Dungan and I'm a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Worker. I attended University of Louisville. I specialize in PTSD, Grief, loss, Depression, Anxiety, Marriage and Family and Anger Management. I have years of experience in the field of mental health care. I strive to help people attain their maximize potential in all aspects of their lives, using several different treatments modalities. All sessions are focused, to provide a nonjudgmental and objective environment to help the patient view their struggles with a new objective fair perspective towards themselves and other significant people and events in their lives.
My first sessions are extremely informal in nature where i share appropriate and relevant information about myself and my life journey, we discuss the three most important aspects of therapy as i have come to believe them to be, a series of very superficial symptom questions and then a chance to superficially discussed what brings the patient in for therapy. ending with a summary of our chat and any past diagnoses' the patient has been given by other providers.
I feel my strengths as a therapist are, objectivity, non judgemental, empathetic, compassionate, creative and caring. I feel i can bring a unique, honest, clear, open and objective approach based in accountability and positivity for patients to help see themselves and their emotional resiliency in a new and more objectively powerful light. This is geared to help them see the strengths deep inside of them along with their will and drive to better themselves and their overall life experiences.
I use CPT as a method I will use to help a patient learning to process thoughts and feelings related to emotional stress on through to physical and emotional trauma, in an environment free of judgement and full of fair objectivity.
I use CBT as a method I will use to help a patient learning to process thoughts and feelings related to emotional stress on through to physical and emotional trauma, in an environment free of judgement and full of fair objectivity.
I use Compassion Focused Therapy to help patients who struggle with shame and self-criticism, low self-esteem, and self-worth, and poor boundaries others. These can stem from early childhood complex forms of trauma.
I have years of experience in helping couples learn to see themselves and their partners in a fair an objective way which allowed for a better overall foundation based in communication and healthy boundaries with each other and their children.
I have years of experience as a Solider in the US Army and the civilian sector treating patients dealing with grief and lost through natural loss and the most significant forms of traumatic loss.
