LCSW, 21 years of experience
Hello, my name is Eric Dungan and I'm a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Worker. I attended University of Louisville. I specialize in PTSD, Grief, loss, Depression, Anxiety, Marriage and Family and Anger Management. I have years of experience in the field of mental health care. I strive to help people attain their maximize potential in all aspects of their lives, using several different treatments modalities. All sessions are focused, to provide a nonjudgmental and objective environment to help the patient view their struggles with a new objective and fair perspective towards themselves and other significant people and events in their lives.
My first sessions are extremely informal in nature where i will share appropriate and relevant information about myself and my life journey, we discuss the three most important aspects of therapy as i have come to believe them to be. Then I will ask a series of superficial symptom questions about how you have been functioning in your life overall. Finally, we will superficially discussed what brings you in seeking therapy. We will end the intake session with a summary of our chat and any past diagnoses' you have been given by providers you have seen in the past.
I feel my strengths as a therapist are, objectivity, being non-judgmental, empathy, compassionate, creativity and caring. I feel i can bring a unique, honest, clear, open and objective approach based in accountability and positivity for you to help see yourself in a brighter and more resilient light. This is geared to help you see the strengths deep inside of yourself, along with the will and drive to better by yourself and your overall life experiences.
In my experience working as a civilian and Soldier i have worked with a wide range of patients. I have been able to work with trauma survivors, kids, men, women, couples, first responders, university professors and administrators, lawyers, doctors, nurses and investment bankers. My patient population as been made up of men, woman, kids, gay men, lesbian women, transgender and various ethnically diverse populations.
I use CPT as a method I will use to help a patient learning to process thoughts and feelings related to emotional stress on through to physical and emotional trauma, in an environment free of judgement and full of fair objectivity.
I use CBT as a method I will use to help a patient learning to process thoughts and feelings related to emotional stress on through to physical and emotional trauma, in an environment free of judgement and full of fair objectivity.
I use Compassion Focused Therapy to help patients who struggle with shame and self-criticism, low self-esteem, and self-worth, and poor boundaries others. These can stem from early childhood complex forms of trauma.
I have years of experience in helping couples learn to see themselves and their partners in a fair an objective way which allowed for a better overall foundation based in communication and healthy boundaries with each other and their children.
I have years of experience as a Solider in the US Army and the civilian sector treating patients dealing with grief and lost through natural loss and the most significant forms of traumatic loss.

After many years of dealing with therapy on and off and never really feeling good about it, I decided to try one more time and that is when I met with him the first time. Very open and honest about who he is and what he expects along with what the client can expect from him. He pushes me when I need it, and allows me to feel when I need that. I could not recommend him enough.

Eric is great, he is someone who is direct but in a caring and wanting the best for you way. He meets you where you are with no judgement and motivates and encourages you. He's also very good at keeping you focused by breaking up trauma and bring you back to now and what’s going on and joking around. He also just feels like a real person and not just a person listening to your struggles.

Relatable and asks questions that really get to the root of the problem. When he says he’s there for you, he really is. I’ve never had a therapist like Eric and I am very glad to have him as one. Highly recommend Eric to anyone with PTSD/ trauma.
