My name is Robert (Bob) Kaiser and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in Michigan. You can take a look at my profile to learn a little bit more about my background and approach. Please also feel free to ask questions. Online counseling is fairly new, and I've found it to be really effective for issues like the ones you mentioned in your message. My counseling style is pretty laid back. I have been described as supportive, caring, and compassionate, with a pretty good sense of humor. I like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles. I'm here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now, and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment. Therapy offers a safe place to explore your thoughts and feelings. Asking for help takes a lot of courage but can be extremely rewarding. I look forward to working with you.

My name is Rodney Skinner, and I am married and have 7 kids. My hobbies are spending time with my wife, watching my kids play sports, camping, hunting and watching old westerns. I am a counselor because I love being a part of helping someone increase their fulfillment in life. I can relate with people who have had "dark" times, self-blame, times of depression, anxiety, questions about parenting, and other stressors life can bring. I am an LMSW, soccer coach, and former collegiate athlete. Formerly the Ehrenberg Family Fellow for Athletic Counseling in the University of Michigan Athletic Department. I provided mental health and athletic performance care for up to thirty Division 1 varsity student-athletes. I received my master’s degree from the University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2020. My passion is to help individuals become masters of themselves and to help them accomplish their goals. I work from a social justice lens to be culturally sensitive, utilizing strength-based, solution-focused interventions. I strive to work collaboratively toward clients’ objectives. I have worked with patients on athletic performance, injury support, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, sleep issues, relational stressors, grief/loss, trauma and suicidality. My approach is foundationally a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) framework, and I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I intend to earn my certification in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). The area I am most passionate about is the study of traumatic, toxic-stress, and mind/body symptoms. I have been interested in how trauma extends beyond some of the more historic notions of PTSD and ACEs. I myself was a collegiate athlete and, through many hardships and obstacles, on and away from the field, went through my own mental health journey. After coaching youth soccer for eight years since college, it became apparent to me that we had been neglecting the mental health of athletes and, oftentimes, of youth in general. In turn, my biggest motivation became de-stigmatizing mental health problems, particularly in the world of sport, and being a spokesperson for the value of therapy.

Is your child or teen struggling to manage emotions, behaviors, anxiety, or ADHD symptoms? Are they dealing with problems at school, such as office referrals, poor grades, or bullying? These are just some of the issues I have worked with, in more than 25 years of experience with youth as a teacher and mental health therapist. Are you finding it overwhelming to cope with your anxiety, ADHD symptoms, or low self-esteem? Do you wish you could take control of your negative thinking instead of it controlling you? I have experience working as a therapist with adults facing these concerns. I welcome you or your child, and everyone age 6 to 65+, to my practice!

I am in my mid-life body years but my spirit and soul are forever young. I love people. I value my innate ability for unconditional positive regard for all souls. I believe all people are born good and beautiful, but through tough life experiences we get stuck in pain and fear. By identifying autonomic body responses and the connection to our thoughts there is a way to get back to the person we were intended to be, happy and full of life.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stretched thin, or unsure how to manage stress, emotions, or life changes, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to navigate it by yourself. I help children (6+), teens, adults, and caregivers build emotional regulation skills, strengthen resilience, and create practical strategies for daily life. My approach is trauma-informed and paced with care. I support clients in understanding how past experiences may influence current patterns, while focusing on safety, skill-building, and grounding—not intensive trauma processing. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, somatic awareness, and experiential or strengths-based approaches. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to balance their needs with responsibilities at home, work, or school. Together, we explore tools, insights, and strategies that help you feel more capable, grounded, and confident in your day-to-day life. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to move forward at a pace that feels right for you.

I’m a Licensed Master of Social Work (MSW) with 7 years of experience in therapy. My journey began with a strong academic foundation, including coursework focused on becoming a school social worker, which has been incredibly valuable in my practice. Although I’m not currently working in a school setting, the knowledge I gained helps me guide and empower parents to advocate for their children within the school system. I have a deep passion for working with children and teens who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, autism, and ADHD. I understand that each child and teen is unique, and I tailor my approach to meet their individual needs, providing a safe space for them to express themselves and develop the tools to manage their emotions and challenges.

The therapeutic relationship is personal for every individual. The idea of sharing your story to someone can feel scary and overwhelming but can also feel relieving and hopeful. If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, phase of life changes, or just need a safe space to process life stressors, therapy can be a positive step in creating change in your life. The challenging part can be finding a therapist that you can trust and is a good fit. Feeling comfortable with your therapist is essential to making progress. I approach therapy as a partnership and provide counseling from a trauma informed and strengths based perspective. I have been a practicing clinician since 2012 helping clients from various backgrounds identify goals that are important to them and have been fortunate to witness many of them achieve their goals.

About Me Hi, I’m a Licensed Clinical Master’s Level Social Worker (LMSW) based in Michigan. For over 26 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals, families, children, and veterans as they navigate life’s everyday challenges and transitions. Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stretched thin by work and family responsibilities, struggling with relationship conflict, or discouraged by low self-esteem. Others are parents seeking guidance as they support a child or preteen with ADHD, school stress, behavior concerns, or the complexities of IEPs and 504 plans. No matter what brings you to therapy, I believe your story matters. I strive to meet you where you are and create a space where you feel heard, respected, and supported without judgment. Life can feel demanding and exhausting at times, and therapy can be a place to slow down, reflect, and build skills to manage it more effectively. My approach is compassionate, client-centered, and strength-based. I use evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), trauma-informed care, and mindfulness-based strategies. Together, we focus on practical tools you can apply in daily life—managing stress and emotions, improving communication, building coping skills, strengthening relationships, and increasing resilience at home, school, and work. I also have over 15 years of experience working with veterans, supporting trauma recovery, reintegration into civilian life, and access to housing and community resources. I bring a culturally responsive perspective to my work with immigrants and first-generation individuals, addressing identity development, acculturation stress, and family dynamics. Whether you are an adult navigating stress or life transitions, a parent seeking support for your child, or someone working to rebuild confidence and emotional balance, I offer a safe, supportive space to heal, grow, and move forward with greater clarity, resilience, and well-being.

Hello, My name is Jennifer Bardon, a LCSW certified professional in the state of Michigan. Social work and behavioral therapy are my passions because helping others is truly what motivates and rewards me the most. Since receiving a BSW (Bachelors, Social Work) and MSW (Masters, Social Work) from Wayne State University, Detroit, nearly six years ago, I have been developing and practicing methods to better understand the human condition and how to modify it to help others through personal conflicts and struggles from insecurities, anxiety, depression, self esteem and so much more. Incorporating mindfulness techniques to assist clients with centering themselves, and focusing on the present, as well as challenging negative thoughts, is one of my many strengths. I have experience with working with children, teens and adults with developmental disabilities. As a clinician that practices Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) certified professional, you can be confident I have the skill-set necessary to work with a diverse array of clients. My focus is "You" the individual, and I encourage all my clients to help assist in utilizing and engaging in the recommended treatments thus giving them needed satisfaction in their own successes. Note: Evenings and weekends are open for clients who have a busy work week or find those times most convenient. I do offer some flexibility if appointments are requested outside of my usual available times.

I have seen people in almost all professional and community arenas (even jails). My work has been a mix of public and private sector involvement, including 11 years of community mental health service and over 30 years of individual practice. I have extensive experience in both home- and office-based psychotherapy, program development, clinical supervision, and clinical innovation. Special populations have included people with developmental disabilities, children and adolescents at risk for out-of-home placements, people with substance abuse issues, and geriatric populations; all have experienced various forms of grief, loss, and trauma while navigating the simple task of living and surviving. If you modify the title of Johnny Cash's song I've Been Everywhere to I've Done Everything (except prison work), that pretty much sums up my years of professional experience.

I believe in therapy as someone who has done my own clinical work since I was in my mid-twenties. I grew up in NJ and moved to Michigan to attend college and have been here since that time. I spent the first part of my career working in the foster care system with children and adolescents which I really enjoyed. That gave me a great foundation for working with the adult issues of attachment, child developmental stages that were not accomplished and struggles with current relationships. I do a lot of work with people who were raised by narcissistic parents, people who are dealing with cancer diagnosis and those with chronic or life threatening illnesses. I work with people who are addressing childhood trauma, sexual abuse or emotional abuse. I have worked with adoptees who are seeking understanding of themselves and their past. I do a lot of work with individuals transitioning from a divorce situation and all the adjustments that this involves especially in coparenting situations. I find people and their life experiences fascinating and always worth unpacking and investigating to gain a better understanding of the self as a whole being; there is always something new to learn.

Admitting you might need a little help getting a handle on your life or the fallout from your past is difficult. Each person interprets the world based on life experiences that are uniquely their own. These interpretations can blind us from opportunities, alternatives, or pitfalls that may be right in front of us. My goal is to assist clients in building a personal road map to navigate life and guide decision-making to gain an acceptable level of control in their life. I have extensive experience with law enforcement, military and ems.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Michigan rather than a city like Detroit?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Michigan. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Michigan from Grand Rapids to Warren! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Michigan.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on ADHD?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, ADHD, is filtering therapists in Michigan that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
