(she/her)
Hi, I’m Amanda, a neurodivergent LMSW (Licenced Master of Social Work) based in Michigan specializing in trauma therapy. I received my master's degree from Western Michigan University with both a Interpersonal Practice designation and a 'Trauma Across the Lifespan' specialization in 2018. I also received a Bachelor's of Social Work (BSW) from Ferris State University in 2009. I’m passionate about helping individuals heal from trauma, build resilience, and reconnect with their sense of safety, agency, and self-worth.
We'll start getting to know each other in our first session. We will go over your intake paperwork together, and I will ask questions to make sure I have a good understanding. You are welcome to ask me questions about the therapy process, my education, training, and experience, as well as questions to get to know who I am as a person. The goal is to feel comfortable with each other, and for me to be able to gain a deeper understanding of what brought you to therapy. We'll also dive into the specific challenges you're facing, and collaboratively identify goals for us to work on in follow-up sessions.
One of my greatest strengths is helping clients understand the deeper patterns underlying their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences — not just focusing on symptom relief alone. I strive to create a thoughtful, emotionally attuned, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe exploring vulnerability, identity, trauma, and personal growth. Alongside insight and reflection, I also help clients build practical coping skills, emotional regulation, resilience, and a stronger sense of safety and agency. Expected results of this work often include improved relationships with self, romantic partners, friends, and family, along with greater emotional stability, self-understanding, and the ability to move toward lasting healing and meaningful change.
I am passionate about supporting individuals who are actively going through complex trauma and those on their healing journey in the aftermath. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, and burdened by the belief that something is inherently wrong with them. They often have difficulty understanding how their past experiences are impacting their present thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In our work together, I help clients make sense of their experiences, build insight into their patterns of coping and survival, and develop practical skills to increase emotional regulation, resilience, and overall well-being. My ideal clients are open to exploring their healing process and are seeking both understanding and tools for meaningful change and growth.
I identify as
Trauma-Focused CBT
With my specialization in 'Trauma Across The Lifespan', I operate from the perspective of "What happened to you?" rather than "What is wrong with you?"
Eclectic
I take an integrative, relational, and trauma-focused approach to therapy, incorporating Psychodynamic, Attachment-Based, Somatic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) perspectives. I can also incorporate a gentle spiritual perspective when appropriate and meaningful.

My first visit with Amanda was a lot more than I expected. Impressed by her knowledge base and ability to connect the dots about my situation. I don’t think I could have picked anyone better to help me through a difficult time.

I love that I finally have someone i can be open with and not feel judged. I love that she has ways to work on getting better and being better informed. She is very relatable and I love that for me. She has touched on bases that actually affect me personally and things we can work on to help me. Having a comfortable space to open up in is very important and Amanda gives me that space. I highly recommend her as a trauma specialist. Her knowledge is ground breaking for someone like me.
