I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 28 years of extensive educational and professional experiences. My clinical work has been providing guidance to individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds in the focus areas of grief and loss, relationship distress, adjusting to life/health changes, addressing personal struggles and other emotional stressors. I have been privileged to support many people in finding hope, healing, and strength as they navigate life’s toughest challenges and transitions. My services are virtual sessions only. As a counselor, I believe everyone is doing their best to work through hardship. However, there are times when we all need support and alternative perspectives to help us on our life’s journey. So essentially, you deserve a meaningful life. I offer a supportive space where each person can feel seen, heard, and empowered. Our work will center on self-discovery, free will, finding purpose, and developing a strong sense of self. Let's explore together what you need, by booking a first appointment with me.
In our first session, we will take time to get to know each other in a low-pressure, safe, and supportive space. I will ask some questions to better understand your purpose and expectations for starting this process. I would like to know some details about your unique background, gain insight as to how your personal experiences has impacted your life, and get clarity on your counseling goals. Once we agree on a plan, therapy will begin in the second session, tailored to your unique needs and pace. You are always in control of what you choose to share. The goal is for you to feel heard and supported and to begin building a sense of safety and trust in our work together.
My greatest strength as a therapist is that... I am a warm and compassionate human being. I have a genuine interest in understanding my client’s unique perspectives, experiences, and feelings. My optimistic approach encourages clients to envision a hopeful future, helping them stay motivated as they navigate the challenges they face. Clear, respectful assertive communication is central to my approach, allowing for a therapeutic process that is not only impactful, but also uplifting for clients seeking meaningful change. I enjoy working with people who are open to self-reflection, and ready to engage in inner healing work.
My counseling style is conversational. It is a true privilege to guide people through the process of becoming the best version of themselves through a non-judgmental and strength-based approach. For a therapeutic experience to be effective, being your genuine self is key to success. I empower my clients to discover new solutions, challenge their past beliefs, embrace their true selves, and cultivate the concepts of self-love and, if needed, self-forgiveness. Topics we can explore together are building life skills, challenging thought patterns, learning healthy ways to cope with hurtful experiences, and finding acceptance. When we care for our emotional well-being, it positively impacts everything from our physical wellness to our emotional responses, and even one's spiritual awareness/inner peace. Prioritizing our emotional wellness, builds resilience, improves quality of life, and empowers us to be our very best for ourselves and those around us! The starting point of this experience is 100% up to you. It would be an honor to support you on your journey toward change, growth, and healing. In my practice, I use cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. This approach focuses on identifying unhelpful thought patterns and developing practical strategies to shift them, leading to meaningful changes in emotional well-being and daily functioning. Together, we work to build self-awareness, develop healthier coping skills, and create lasting improvements in mental clarity, emotional resilience, and overall well-being.
Motivational interviewing improves patient outcomes by increasing engagement, enhancing motivation, and reducing resistance. Patients who feel heard and understood are more likely to participate actively in treatment, adhere to medication regimens, and follow through on therapeutic recommendations. MI fosters a sense of ownership over change, making it more likely that improvements are sustained over time.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a future-focused, goal-directed therapy that emphasizes finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems. It is based on the belief that clients have the strengths and resources necessary to make positive changes in their lives. This method helps us quickly identify and work towards your goals in a purposeful way. In our time together, we’ll focus on what’s already working well in your life and envision the outcomes you truly desire. By shifting our attention to solutions rather than problems, we’ll create a clear and actionable path forward—empowering you to make lasting, meaningful changes and move closer to the life you want to lead.
I integrate grief therapy to support clients as they navigate the complex emotions that come with loss. Whether the loss is recent or long-standing, I provide a safe nonjudgmental space to process pain, find meaning and rebuild a sense of connection and hope. My approach is tailored to one’s unique experience, honoring their pace and personal story throughout the healing journey.
I appreciate and understand that spirituality along with other aspects of a person’s life (mind, body, social relationships), plays a vital role in one’s overall well-being. I am trained to respect a client’s spiritual and religious beliefs/values. There are spiritually based therapeutic methods that seamlessly integrate spiritual and religious beliefs with various proven therapeutic techniques. This approach is designed to foster healing, personal growth, and well-being, while honoring the unique values and beliefs that are central to one’s faith. By blending spiritual guidance with clinical evidence-based practices, I aim to create a supportive environment where both emotional and spiritual healing can thrive.
