Life is not always a walk in the park. Stress, worry, & concern can feel overwhelming to the point that things feel out of control. I find it very important to allow a safe, non-judgmental, therapeutic space for clients to feel welcomed and comfortable. I am a board-certified Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland providing individual counseling services to adults and adolescents. I have experience working with individuals seeking help due to increased anxiety, depression, trauma, communication /relationship challenges, grief & loss, and general life challenges. Earning a bachelor of Science in psychology from Morgan State University, and a Master of Science from Loyola University Maryland in clinical mental health counseling has allowed my career in the mental health field to thrive for over 18+ years. I have training in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola allowing a holistic approach integrating psychotherapy with spiritual/faith/religious understanding to help an individual pursue healing and growth. My goal as a counselor is to be present through your therapeutic journey and continue to be there when you discover what helps to lift the heavy burden, noticing a sense of relief, a sense of peace, and security. https://www.rhcounselingmindset.com

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Your first session is called an intake appointment. This initial appointment allows the clinician to get to know you and how to best provide support by asking a series of questions. This is the beginning of the therapeutic rapport, allowing the client to know the importance of therapy, how it can be helpful, and limitations.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

It is very important to give yourself the space to process your thoughts in a safe environment with a professional. Allow yourself to learn and implement coping strategies and mindfulness techniques to help with positive change in your life. These are things I can help you with. Properly processing one's thoughts can lead to increased self-esteem and increased confidence, leading you to the life you want to live with a healthy mindset.

My treatment methods

Interpersonal

Interpersonal Psychotherapy has been integrated in my mental health practices for the past 18 years. it addresses current problems and relationships rather than focusing on childhood or developmental issues/concerns. It includes being an active listener, being supportive and hopeful, and offering options for change, including communication and boundries.
