In my practice, CBT is used as a pathway to help us understand the patterns and habits that establish what each person defines as "normal". I help my clients develop an understanding of how these patterns are maintained in an effort to show them where they can create change, and I provide skill training and exercises that can help rewrite these patterns to reflect the life they want to live.
I have completed clincial trainings to help inform my delivery of this treatment to the clients I work with. I utilize DBT as a way to help clients develop tools that can be used to address concerns that range from mild discomfort to extreme disruption of their life. I find that this approach can help a person to balance a desire to create stability in their lives with a drive to improve themselves.
