LPC, 10 years of experience
Now I am taking on new clients!!! Also, I am available on Sundays!!! I, Kumi Pledger, LCPC work with all ages: children, adolescents, couples, LGBTQ Clients, families and adults for various issues including, hearing from traumatic experiences, relationship challenges such as dealing with narcissistic abuse, struggling to manage anxiety, having no motivations, supporting new and expectant mothers, eating disorders, adjustment to new places/new jobs, grief and loss. I use personal insight and professional experience to provide clients with a safe place to be heard, find themselves again, free of fears, reduce anxieties, have a stress-free life, find happiness and joy in their lives, eliminate unwanted behaviors, grow, improve and conquer insomnia
Our first session is all about getting to know you. We'll start by exploring what brings you to therapy and what you'd like to work on — whether it's something specific like anxiety, relationship challenges, or recent life changes, or if you're not quite sure yet and just know something doesn't feel right. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your history, current concerns, and goals for therapy, but you’re always in control of what you choose to share. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable and supported from the very beginning. This first session also gives you a chance to ask any questions about the therapy process, my approach, or anything else you’re curious about. Together, we’ll begin to create a plan that feels right for you — at your pace.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a warm, safe, and judgment-free environment where clients feel genuinely seen and heard. I bring both professional expertise and personal insight to my work, which helps me connect with clients on a deeper level and guide them through even the most difficult challenges with empathy and clarity. I tailor my approach to each individual’s unique needs, drawing from evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and strength-based techniques. I’m especially skilled at helping clients heal from trauma, navigate toxic or narcissistic relationships, reduce anxiety, and reconnect with their sense of purpose and identity. Clients often tell me they appreciate my compassionate yet direct style, my ability to hold space for their emotions while also gently challenging them to grow, and the sense of hope and empowerment they begin to feel in our work together.
My ideal clients are individuals who are ready to explore what’s holding them back and are open to the process of growth and healing — even if they’re unsure where to start. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in unhealthy relationship patterns, processing trauma, struggling with low motivation, or adjusting to major life changes, I’m here to help. I work especially well with clients who are seeking clarity, emotional balance, and deeper self-understanding. This includes people navigating narcissistic abuse, identity exploration (including LGBTQ+ clients), new or expectant mothers in need of support, those facing grief or loss, or individuals trying to rediscover purpose and peace in their lives. I also support children and adolescents in building emotional resilience and self-esteem. If you're looking for a safe space to be heard and guided without judgment — and you're ready to work toward a life that feels more aligned, calm, and authentic — we may be a great fit.
"I have several years of experience using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in particularly with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, and trauma. My use of ACT is grounded in its core processes: cognitive defusion, acceptance, contact with the present moment, self-as-context, values clarification, and committed action.
"I have extensive experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my clinical work with individuals experiencing a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, and behavioral issues. I rely on CBT as a structured, evidence-based framework that helps clients identify and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior.
I have significant experience using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), particularly with clients struggling with emotional dysregulation, self-harm, borderline personality disorder, and complex trauma
I incorporate mindfulness-based treatment approaches regularly in my clinical work, both as stand-alone interventions and as complementary tools within broader modalities like CBT, ACT, and DBT. My experience includes working with clients managing anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, and stress-related disorders.
"My approach to multicultural treatment therapy is rooted in cultural humility, ongoing self-reflection, and a commitment to understanding each client's unique cultural identity and lived experience. I’ve worked with clients from diverse racial, ethnic, religious, gender, socioeconomic, and linguistic backgrounds, and I strive to ensure that therapy is a space where all aspects of a client’s identity are acknowledged, respected, and integrated into the therapeutic process.
