I’m Latisha Gee Torres, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience. I support Black women and adult children of emotionally unavailable or addicted caregivers in healing relational trauma, releasing people-pleasing and perfectionism, and reconnecting with their authentic selves. My approach integrates cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and somatic practices in a compassionate, culturally attuned space where your full story is honored and your healing remains the priority.
In our first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming space where they don’t have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or hold anything back. We’ll take time to explore what’s bringing you to therapy, what you hope to gain, and what’s been feeling heavy or unresolved in your life. I’ll ask some gentle questions to understand your story, your strengths, and any patterns you’ve been noticing. Most importantly, it’s a chance for us to begin building a trusting connection—one where you feel seen, heard, and supported as your full self.
My greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to create a safe, affirming space where clients feel genuinely seen and heard—especially those who are used to holding it all together for everyone else. I bring a deep understanding of the emotional impact of relational trauma, co-dependency, and cultural expectations, especially for Black women and adult children of emotionally unavailable or addicted caregivers. I blend clinical skill with lived experience, mindfulness, and intuitive presence, allowing me to meet clients exactly where they are and support them in moving toward healing, clarity, and self-trust.
I work best with adults who are ready to understand themselves more deeply and are open to doing the internal work required for lasting change. Many of my clients are Black women and adult children of emotionally unavailable, inconsistent, or addicted caregivers who are navigating the long-term impact of those early experiences. They often come in feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from themselves. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, or unresolved trauma, and find themselves stuck in patterns like people-pleasing, perfectionism, or over-functioning. Many have difficulty setting boundaries, trusting their own needs, or feeling safe slowing down. My clients are often high-functioning on the outside but internally feel stuck, uncertain, or depleted. They’re not looking for surface-level coping—they want to understand why they feel the way they do and learn how to respond differently. In our work together, we focus on building awareness, developing emotional language, and supporting nervous system regulation so clients can move from survival mode into a more grounded, intentional way of living. This is a space for clients who are ready to stop abandoning themselves and begin building a relationship with who they truly are.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
With over 20 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I use an integrative, trauma-informed approach that combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and somatic awareness to support long-term healing. I work primarily with Black women and adult children of emotionally unavailable or addicted caregivers, many of whom struggle with perfectionism, people-pleasing, anxiety, and unresolved grief. I use CBT to help clients identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns, while mindfulness allows us to build present-moment awareness and foster emotional regulation. For clients carrying relational trauma, I incorporate body-based strategies to gently reconnect them with safety in their bodies and deepen their capacity for self-trust. Every session is tailored to the individual’s goals, lived experiences, and cultural context. My goal is to provide a supportive and affirming space where clients not only understand their pain but also learn practical tools to reclaim their voice, set healthy boundaries, and move toward the life they truly want.
