In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During the first session, my goal is to establish rapport and to gather pertinent information ( e.g. asking specific question) as to why you feel you need psychotherapy at this time. Several questionnaires will be reviewed to help me gain insight about any relevant issues that are occurring currently. Next, I will inquire about your desire outcome related to engaging in the couneling process. Finally, I will provide you with my observation and clinical understanding of what I think the issues are tha may be posing challenges for you.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My ability to examine the clinical information that being presented and give feedback on how the issues can be adequately addressed. In addition, if I am unable to competently manage or intervene effectively with the presenting issues, I will gladly refer you to a provider with the expertise that you need.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My philosophy is to meet the client where he/she is and allow the individual to explore the direction he/she wants to go. Over the years, I have found that the client centered approach has proven to be effective by allowing the client to take ownership of his/her issue and to determine how it should be resolved. Solution Focused Therapy supports this model and identify the strengths that a person already possess.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I used Solution Focused Therapy to help clients reinforced the coping strategies that he/she already possess. This processs allows for the client to communicate their narrative of how the probem should be resolved.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cogntive Behavoral Therapy is used to help the client identify his or her thoughts related to a particular issue. In addition, this approach allows the client to examine his or her thought pattern to determine whether the thought process is effective in helping him/her resolve the issue at hand.
Integrative
I used an integrative treatment appoach to address co-occurring ( e.g. mental health and substance use issues). This approach allows me to assess which issue is more pronounced so that it can be addressed according. I am trained in applying the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria to ensure that clients are recommended for the appropriate level of substance abuse care. Motivational Interviewing skills are also used to identify the "change talk" that a client presents which is often a motivating factor for change.
Faith based therapy
Faith based therapy approach is used with client who precribed to this philosophy for support and growth. This provider is non-judgemental ( e.g. any denomination even if it differs from this provider's beliefs) and focus on how faith is a support for the client. allow them to identify how
Humanistic
This approach is used to help clients strive to become their best self. This approach encourages a client to be authentic an develop their own strengths.
