Hi, my name is Miguel. I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, came of age in New York City, and served in the US Army for several years. I am a clinician and educator, and credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (Maryland), Licensed Professional Counselor (Virginia), and a National Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors (NCC). In addition, I have a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am finishing my Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision.
I work with people from diverse backgrounds and collaborate with them to understand the causes of their difficulties and to develop their own solutions.
Areas of interest include crisis, suicide, post-traumatic stress, psychotic disorders, depression, and anxiety.
My clients include adolescents, veterans, responders, adults, families, and couples.
I have several years of experience as a family therapist and have completed trainings and certifications in various modalities of family therapy.
I have completed trainings and certifications in multiple therapeutic approaches and employ strategies from many of them to address the particular needs of my clients.
