Before I tell you a bit about me, I wanted to caution any new clients of thinking that a spot is open on my calendar when they schedule. My calendar is unable to sync with my other work calendar so it looks empty, while being very filled. Thank you đ I am a well-rounded therapist. I have had experience in very fluid environments, which means I can adapt to any disorder and process with you ways of tackling it together. Furthermore, I build rapport very easily with clients because I am very open and empathetic to what clients are going through. I have been in the field for 11 years now. I help young adults and adults tackle life's challenges through various interventions that help them thrive in the world.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Having worked with families and adults for the past 11 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I love working with with teens to adults on mental health issues that they have had a hard time understanding and tackling on their own. For those individuals who have felt lost and overwhelmed by what they are going through, I help them to not only understand their disorder, but figure out ways of coping with that disorder so they can build a life that brings them happiness as well.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Through this compassionate and evidence-based approach, I have helped client's work through their anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and PTSD by helping them build themselves up as if they are building a house. We do this through a balance of change (mindfulness and distress tolerance skills) and acceptance (emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness skills). I help them create a life worth living. Throughout the method, we explore any trauma related material by bring in parts work and somatic psychology, which focuses on healing past stuck parts of ourselves and learning the ins and outs of how our body reacts to emotions.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I use parts work to help clients recognize and connect with the different parts of themselves that may have been shaped or frozen by past traumatic experiences. Often, a part of the client becomes âstuckâ at the point of trauma, holding intense emotions, beliefs, or protective behaviors that once served a purpose but now cause distress. Through compassionate dialogue, curiosity, and guided interventions, I help the client safely access these parts, understand their role, and provide the care and validation they did not receive at the time of trauma. This process allows the part to begin healing, integrate with the whole self, and release the client from being held captive in the past.
Somatic
I use somatic psychology to help clients tune into their inner experience by noticing and exploring physical sensations, emotions, and bodily cues in the present moment. By developing awareness of these signals, clients can better understand the connection between their body and emotional states. This increased self-awareness supports regulation of overwhelming feelings and improves behavioral control, allowing clients to respond more intentionally rather than react impulsively.
Motivational Interviewing
Through this approach, I collaborate with clients to explore their ambivalence and enhance their intrinsic motivation for change. By fostering a nonjudgmental and empathetic therapeutic relationship, I create a safe space for clients to express their concerns and aspirations freely. Utilizing techniques such as reflective listening and open-ended questioning, I help clients uncover their values, strengths, and aspirations, guiding them towards self-discovery and sustainable growth. I believe in the power of autonomy and self-efficacy, empowering clients to harness their inner resources and take meaningful steps towards positive transformation.
Grief Therapy
I guide clients through their grief journey by focusing on strengths, resilience, and achievable goals. Together, we explore coping strategies, identify small steps towards healing, and amplify moments of progress, fostering a sense of hope and empowerment in the midst of loss.
