A client comes in to see her therapist and is 10 minutes late. She sits down and apologizes for her tardiness, to which the therapist replies that no apologies are necessary as clients are only late for their first session. The vignette illustrates something that I see in clients repeatedly who come into my office. Many should have come in at least a year or two ago but for some reason think that the problems they experience are still manageable. While I admire the will of many of those who still manage life like the proverbial Dutch Boy and the dike, I believe that asking for help is a strength of its own. In therapy, I come from the perspective of someone that had to receive help at various times in my life. I've also had a meandering career path, meaning that I've worked in several fields and industries prior to becoming a therapist and have been able to do ground-level empathizing with people who work in blue and white-collar professions.

I’m a born-and-raised New Yorker, raised by Caribbean immigrant parents who instilled in me the classic Millennial mantra: “You can achieve anything.” And while that belief fueled my ambition, it also came with a side order of generational challenges—perfectionism, chronic stress, anxiety, and a not-so-charming inability to gracefully handle life transitions. You know, the usual. But here’s the thing: hardship turned out to be my superpower. I became ambitious, self-aware, and checked all the right boxes, yet I couldn’t escape the cycle of mental and emotional roadblocks that left me feeling stuck, wondering how to truly move forward. This insight shaped not only my path but the way I guide others on theirs. Through my clinical work, I help high achieving millennials identify their patterns to move out of survival mode and into their surplus by bridging the gap between knowing and feeling —because being stuck isn’t who you are, and settling isn’t your story.

My Personal Journey: I am a Muslim African American man, married since 1993, and the father of two adult daughters. Raised as the seventh of ten children in a working-class Catholic family, we moved from subsidized public housing and became the first Black family in our middle-class White neighborhood. This early cross-cultural experience taught me that struggle is a universal human condition, sparking my lifelong desire to become a therapist. Following the passing of my father when I was 14, my path briefly pivoted. I spent my late teens and early college years studying Theology and Philosophy to become a Catholic Priest. Ultimately, my deep desire for marriage and family led me back to my original calling of clinical social work, allowing me to blend my spiritual depth with professional therapy. Professional Background & Expertise: I have been a behavioral health professional since 1984 and a Maryland Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) since 1993. I have decades of independent practice, providing clinical therapy, consultation, and Deen/Life coaching to a global clientele across the US, Canada, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. My Therapeutic Approach: I offer a judgment-free, deeply respectful partnership to help you uncover your inherent strengths. I work with clients from all backgrounds to navigate depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship issues, and all forms of addiction (including behavioral compulsions). I customize our work, starting with an eclectic approach and educating each client about the range of treatment options we can collaboratively select to understand and address their conflicts, struggles, concerns, challenges, and the impact of life experiences that led them to seek professional assistance.

Hi. I am a life-long learner and clinical psychologist who loves to help people understand more about themselves than they ever knew was possible. Hi, I'm Gabriella, I have been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) since 2013, but I have been in the mental health field since 2006. We all know that in recent years, specifically starting in 2020, our life as we knew it drastically changed. Our relationships with our family, friends, coworkers and even ourselves appeared to stall indefinitely. We had to learn to maneuver in different ways to try and have a sense of "normalcy." But as we tried to navigate this new way of life, our mental health has suffered. We have noticed that depression, anxiety, and relationship/interpersonal issues have been rising because we have isolated ourselves for so long. As people, we are social beings and tend to gravitate towards social situations. Within the last year, rules and mandates have eased, and we are resuming to our "new normal," and maybe we are feeling hesitant and vulnerable to step out. Reaching out for help is very difficult but the most rewarding decisions you make. We can work together to make step by step goals so you can achieve your success.

Taking the first step towards healing takes courage, and I'm glad you're here. My name is Amanda, and I hope to walk with you through your journey towards a healthier "You." I believe each person is intrinsically valuable. I believe that we have the ability within us to heal and move towards greater health. I believe that people are not broken into separate disparate parts but are a whole person, whose minds, bodies, and spirits work together, and in order to work towards health, each of these areas needs to be addressed. I see myself as a person who is privileged to walk beside my clients in their unique journey towards healing; providing encouragement, education, the occasional gentle pushback when necessary, and reminders of your innate strength and capacity. This holistic, empowerment-based approach is one that I live out in my own life, how I parent my children, and how I love and support my friends.

I specialize in supporting adults navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, major life transitions, caregiver responsibilities, chronic illness, grief and loss, aging, and unexpected change. I bring a combination of clinical expertise, compassion, and real-world experience to my work. My background in hospital settings has given me extensive experience helping individuals and families cope with medical diagnoses, crisis situations, caregiving demands, health-related uncertainty, and significant life changes. My experience as a military spouse has also shaped my understanding of transition, identity, uncertainty, and starting over. Military life often requires adjusting to change, rebuilding routines, navigating career and family shifts, and finding stability during unfamiliar seasons. That perspective allows me to connect not only with military families, but with anyone facing a major transition, feeling disconnected from who they once were, or trying to create a new sense of direction. I have seen firsthand how resilient people can be, even during incredibly difficult seasons. These experiences have strengthened my ability to remain calm under pressure, provide compassionate support, and help clients find hope, build resilience, and develop practical strategies to move forward one step at a time.

I work with adults, including first responders, healthcare professionals, men, and older adults, who are navigating medical trauma, traumatic loss, grief, chronic stress, major life transitions, and relationship challenges. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck, disconnected, or simply finding it difficult to move forward, therapy can provide a supportive space to better understand your experiences, develop practical coping strategies, and reconnect with your strengths. I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP). My education in psychology, combined with my clinical experience, allows me to provide evidence-based care tailored to each client's unique needs. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based care that recognizes the connection among the mind, body, emotions, and behaviors. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel heard, respected, and supported while also being encouraged to grow in ways that align with your values and goals. Outside of my practice, I enjoy designing guided journals, playing the drum, creating art, and writing poetry. I believe creativity encourages reflection, healing, and personal growth, and those values influence the way I approach therapy and my work with clients.

I am an empathetic and intuitive person who cares very much about the lives of others. I have been in my own therapy for some time as I would not ask others to do work I can’t do myself. I engage with each client with a pace and style that matches the diagnosis, history, and emotional state they are experiencing. I am very open to feedback back and If you disagree with me on something I encourage a safe relationship where sharing that feels ok.

My name is Juanita Fontenot, and I believe in a person-centered approach to everything, as we are humans first. I also think the resiliency of the human spirit is often unnoticed but should be celebrated. We all have value, and once you believe this, the impact is life-changing. I want to work with you! You who have doubted your value because of what others have said, you who want to make a change, but feel stuck because it's just too much, you who are willing to do the work to make the change you wish to see. And you, you who need someone in your corner.

I am the wife of a Retired Combat Veteran and a mother to four beautiful children. I understand the complexities of being separated from your spouse for extended periods and feeling alone in the relationship and raising the children. Even the most well-prepared and successful person can find themselves wondering how things became so complicated, messy, or challenging, and feel at a loss when it comes to what to do to put the pieces back together. People have been shaped and molded by their past experiences, both good and bad. Often, people feel drawn to focus on the bad experiences, leading to pain and struggles of many kinds.

Yes! If you use Cigna - HealthEZ you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Cigna - HealthEZ you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
