I've been working in mental health for over two decades, and I bring that depth of experience to every session. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed in Maryland, Tennessee, and Arkansas, I specialize in helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and the unique challenges that come with parenting and military service.

Currently, I also work at the Memphis VA Hospital in the ER as a mental health assessor.

My work at the Memphis VA Hospital's emergency department has deepened my understanding of trauma and crisis, and I'm committed to bringing that same compassionate, grounded approach to my private practice. I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and trauma-informed techniques to meet you where you are. Whether you're a young adult finding your way, navigating life's complexities as an adult, or an elder seeking support, I'm here to help. I offer telehealth sessions and am currently accepting new clients. Let's work together toward meaningful change.

First session

In our first session you can expect to tell your story. We will also work together to develop a treatment plan and make a decision on a timeframe to address your concerns. We will also set goals that are realistic, achievable, and in alignment with your desired outcomes.

Strengths

My practice is built on a foundation of trust, respect, and evidence based practices. As a provider my greatest strengths are my empathy, knowledge of treatment models and theories, and my experience in the mental health field.

Ideal clients

Living with the effects of trauma, anxiety, and depression can be a heavy burden, but you don't have to carry this weight alone. With over 20 years of experience, I am equipped with proven techniques to help you heal. We will work together to create a personalized plan to address your unique story and goals. I want to help empower you to heal from your past wounds, strengthen your relationships, and build a more fulfilling and resilient life.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is one of the most widely used evidence based practices in mental health. It is based on the idea that our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical responses are interconnected. I have used CBT primarily over the past five years to help people with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, anger management, and many other issues.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma-Focused CBT is a structured, evidence based treatment that was initially developed for children and adolescent, but does offer benefits for adults. Generally adults will receive trauma-focused CBT approaches adapted for use with adults. This method allows the client to process the traumatic experience, correct trauma-related beliefs, reduce symptoms, and regain a sense of safety and control.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, client-centered approach that helps people explore and strengthen their own motivation for change. Rather than telling clients what they should do, the therapist helps them identify their own reasons, values, strengths, and readiness for change.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Social Focused Brief Treatment (SFBT) is a practical, strengths based approach that focuses less on analyzing why a problem developed and more on helping a client identify what they want to be different, what is already working, and what small steps they can take to move them toward that preferred future.

I feel comfortable sharing with Ms. Clemons. She helps me see my side as well as the other side of my feelings in situations encountered. She is solution-oriented, with best practices that are specific to the situation. I really appreciate her methods she has provided for me to work through anxiety flare ups.
