In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Welcome! Starting therapy can feel exciting, overwhelming, or even a little intimidating—and all of those feelings are completely normal. Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. You don't need to have everything figured out before we meet, and you don't need to tell your entire life story during our first session. We'll focus on what feels most important to you right now. During our time together, we'll explore questions such as: What brought you to therapy at this point in your life? What are you hoping will be different as a result of therapy? What is the biggest challenge or concern you're facing right now? If therapy were successful, what would your life look like six months or a year from now? If you woke up tomorrow and the problem that brought you to therapy had been resolved, what would be the first signs that things were better? We'll also discuss your personal strengths, the supports you already have in your life, and begin identifying practical goals that are meaningful to you. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and solution-focused. Together, we'll create a plan that helps you move toward the life you want to build—not just away from the problems that brought you here. I look forward to partnering with you on your journey toward growth, healing, and lasting change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe every person has the capacity to grow, heal, and create meaningful change when they are met with compassion, curiosity, and practical support. My goal is to provide a safe, judgment-free space where you can be your authentic self while feeling heard, respected, and empowered. Clients often appreciate that I balance empathy with honesty. I won't simply listen—I will partner with you to identify patterns, build on your strengths, and develop realistic strategies that help you move toward the life you want. Rather than focusing solely on what's wrong, I help clients discover what's possible. Drawing on more than 24 years of experience in education, counseling, and supporting children, adults, and families, I understand that every person's story is unique. I integrate a solution-focused, trauma-informed, and relationship-centered approach that recognizes your experiences while helping you create a clear path forward. Whether you're navigating anxiety, life transitions, parenting challenges, relationship concerns, stress, or questions about your identity and purpose, we'll work together to identify your goals, celebrate your progress, and build the confidence and resilience needed to create lasting change. Above all, I believe therapy should leave you feeling more hopeful than when you arrived. My role is not to "fix" you, but to help you recognize your strengths, gain new perspectives, and develop the tools to become the person you want to be.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals who are genuinely ready to invest in their personal growth and create meaningful, lasting change. My ideal clients are open to self-reflection, willing to explore new perspectives, and committed to applying what they learn both during and between sessions. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I believe lasting transformation happens when insight is paired with action. If you're ready to better understand yourself, develop new skills, and actively work toward the life and relationships you want, I would be honored to partner with you on that journey.

My treatment methods

EMDR

For clients who have experienced traumatic or distressing life events, I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy through a secure telehealth platform. EMDR is an evidence-based approach that helps the brain process and heal from experiences that may continue to cause emotional distress, anxiety, negative beliefs, or unwanted reactions. Using specialized remote technology, we can safely engage in EMDR from the comfort and privacy of your own space. You remain fully awake, aware, and in control throughout the process, and we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My role is to guide and support you as your brain reprocesses difficult memories so they become less emotionally overwhelming and no longer have the same impact on your daily life. Not everyone is ready for EMDR immediately, so we'll first determine whether it's the right approach for your needs and ensure you have the coping skills and resources necessary before beginning trauma reprocessing. My priority is creating a safe, supportive environment where healing can occur at a pace that feels right for you.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Often, the way we think about ourselves, others, or difficult situations can influence how we feel and the choices we make. Together, we'll identify unhelpful thinking patterns, challenge beliefs that may no longer serve you, and develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. CBT is a practical, evidence-based approach that equips you with tools you can use long after therapy ends. Rather than simply talking about problems, we'll work together to build skills that improve emotional well-being, strengthen resilience, reduce anxiety and stress, and help you create lasting, meaningful change in your daily life.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help clients identify their strengths, build on what's already working, and create meaningful, achievable goals for the future. Rather than spending every session focused on problems, we'll explore your hopes, successes, and the possibilities that already exist within your life. Together, we'll identify practical steps that move you toward the changes you want to see, while recognizing the strengths and resources you already possess. This collaborative, goal-oriented approach empowers you to develop confidence, overcome obstacles, and create lasting change by focusing on solutions instead of becoming stuck in problems. Whether you're facing a specific challenge or navigating a major life transition, SFBT helps you clarify your goals and take intentional steps toward the life you envision.
