I love to teach other therapists and students about play therapy and sand tray therapy at universities or professional conferences. I have over twenty years' experience working with families as a child advocate with the court system and I currently provide social investigations and assist individuals involved in contentious divorce or visitation issues. Perhaps my most rewarding experience was seven years’ providing individual and group counseling in a shelter for survivors of domestic violence. My specialties are working with individuals who have symptoms of stress, depression, anxiety, anger, traumatic brain injury, or who are experiencing family issues. Clients find that I genuinely like people from all walks of life, I am non-judgmental, and I am an excellent listener. Research supports, and I believe, that a strong client-counselor relationship is the most important part of the counseling experience and creating that bond is my goal. Hello, I'm Mary. Something I find myself saying often is: "it's hard to be human." Life brings so many ups and downs, and our own histories, genetics, circumstances, life events, etc. can impact how we find ourselves functioning from day to day. I am passionate about helping clients discover the tools and frameworks that work for them to meet their own identified goals for their life and decreasing the emotional intensity of symptoms causing barriers to meeting those goals. In 2010, I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Master’s of Social Work and earned my license to practice independently in 2013. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Family & Child Sciences at Florida State University in 2005 and my Doctor of Philosophy in International Conflict Management at Kennesaw State University in 2017. (A bit of a random PhD, I know...my dissertation research was about the relationship between social identity and emotional well-being for service members and veterans in the context of community reintegration.)

Hello! I’m Margie. My love of the arts and engaging in the creative process for healing and personal growth naturally led me to the field of therapy. I see the therapeutic process as infinitely creative! My practice draws from training in art therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Mindfulness practice/philosophy, somatic awareness, and the polyvagal theory. Being that each person enters therapy with their own unique perspectives and needs, we will work together to incorporate the tools that are most effective for accomplishing your goals. It’s easy to lose touch with the innate creative energy and playfulness that we all possess. We get weighed down in chronic patterns of stress and exhaustion. The 'shoulds', self-criticism, limiting narratives, and dysfunction in our relationships keep us stuck and disconnected. I believe that therapy has the potential to allow access to our true nature- the space of wholeness where there is infinite potential for growth, empowerment, and evolution. It’s never too late to rediscover what may seem lost or even at times irrelevant. Maybe loss, pain, or disappointment seem too overwhelming. I hope we can start a conversation that will encourage you on your journey to living your best life. I would like to partner with you to provide a creative space where you will have the chance to listen deeply to yourself, be curious, find your voice, and be empowered!

Dr. Jason L. Pearce is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Blunt and Balanced, a telehealth therapy practice serving adults in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. With over a decade of experience, he specializes in anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, and insomnia, using structured, evidence-based treatments like CBT, ERP, ACT, and mindfulness. His approach is straightforward, results-driven, and no-nonsense—cutting through the noise to help clients make real progress. Before launching his private practice, Dr. Pearce served as a military social work officer, leading behavioral health programs for soldiers and families across the U.S., Korea, and Hawaii. He worked directly with military leaders to improve mental health services, managed crisis interventions, and trained clinicians in evidence-based trauma treatments. His time in the military cemented his expertise in trauma, operational stress, and suicidality—giving him firsthand experience with the high-stakes mental health challenges faced by service members and veterans. Beyond clinical work, Dr. Pearce has taught at the university level, presented at professional conferences, and conducted clinical research. He’s passionate about making therapy accessible, efficient, and actually useful—especially for men and LGBTQ+ clients who’ve struggled to find affirming, insurance-friendly care. If you’re looking for a therapist who will just sit back and nod, he’s not the one. But if you’re ready to do the work, challenge unhelpful patterns, and get real results, he’s got you covered.

I’m passionate about a holistic focus to helping others on their journey to overall wellness. Helping others increase their self-awareness through talk therapy is key, and I believe once an individual recognizes their personal strengths & capabilities the sky is the limit. I integrate CBT with Motivational Interviewing on my mission to help people recognize what faulty beliefs, and unresolved past experiences may correlate with present day maladaptive choices & behaviors. Recognizing how these negative beliefs & behaviors may be the barriers to living one’s best life is just the beginning of motivation for change.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Georgia rather than a city like Atlanta?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Georgia from Athens to Savannah! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Georgia.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Grief?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Grief, is filtering therapists in Georgia that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
