Welcome! I’m Rachel. Are you struggling with a difficult life situation? Are you looking for lasting and meaningful change? I’d like to provide you with a supportive space to deal with what is occurring in your life. Dealing with the stresses and challenges of everyday life can be hard, and when you add in relationship issues, anxiety or depression, or personal struggles – it can be overwhelming. If you’re looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation, or you’re just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to helping you achieve your goals. I will encourage you to be kind to your body and mind as you work to solve your problems. I am a firm believer in the mind-body connection. My clients are encouraged to be diligent about routine medical care, and I often consult with healthcare workers and fitness experts to gain insight and knowledge for my clients. When you feel better about yourself, you can feel more optimistic about the future. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy takes courage and I am proud of you for getting started. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I enjoy helping people and truly believe that every individual deserves to lead a happy, fulfilling life. Let’s work together!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, I will give you a little bit of information about what a therapy session with me will look like. Then, I will open up the floor for you to tell me what prompted you to seek therapeutic support at this time. I will most likely ask some questions so that I better understand your unique situation. Then, at the end I will assist you in creating therapeutic goals - in other words, what specifically we will be working on during our time together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Shhh…don’t tell my clients, but I’m a human too! Seriously, I want my clients to know that I am a real person who faces the challenges of day-to-day life. Combining my life experiences, training as a therapist, and nearly 20 years of experience allows me to provide counseling with clinical skill as well as empathy. My professional focus has been adults of all ages facing the struggles of real life situations and emotions. Let’s face it, we will all face roadblocks to happiness at some point. The reason could be anxiety or depression, relationship issues, grief or loss, career challenges, or other life struggles. Working together, we will remove those roadblocks - or find a way around them. Let's get started!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use cognitive behavioral therapy as the basis of my practice, and sprinkle in other methods that are appropriate for individual clients. I like CBT because it helps clients understand their thoughts and behavior, and provides tools to bring about positive changes.

Grief Therapy

I have almost 20 years of experience working in hospice and grief support. Like many things in life, grief is a process. Having support to move through this process is so important.

Psychoeducation

Helping clients understand the "why" of behaviors and thought patterns is so important. For most individuals, this type of education is very helpful in creating positive changes.

Supportive

We all need support sometimes. When a client is facing a challenge in life, having a listening ear can make things a little easier. Supportive therapy is also a useful way for clients to process their emotions.
