Greetings! Secular psychotherapist here. Is taking care of everyone but yourself breaking you down? Tired of being called “co-dependent”? Do you have beliefs that are different from others and feel a little “off”? Are you becoming more and more anxious or depressed? You're not alone. I help those looking for a professional confidant and can help with processing difficult transitions and even traumas. Maybe the transition you are going through is attempting to take care of aging parents while raising a family of your own. Or perhaps you are having difficulty setting boundaries with a toxic person in your life. Perhaps you are having difficulty with relationships due to a past that seems ever so present. My therapeutic style is empathetic and interpersonal. Person-centered. I use evidence-based talk therapy (Acceptance & Commitment, Narrative, etc.) and mindfulness techniques. I believe in our getting to know one another well over time. I welcome diversity in my practice, including those with other than traditional orientations: religious, sexual, gender, or otherwise. Hit the “Book Session” today to find out if we are a fit.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in FL and a Licensed Professional Counselor in DC, GA & VA and soon to be licensed in NY. FIT MIND counseling services enjoys empowering clients finding a more meaningful way to live their lives and assisting them learning about the importance of self-love. Helping clients to focus on themselves and on their self-care is a precious thing. When they learn to embrace and unconditionally love for being themselves, they become stronger in the face of negativity and more able to hold onto positive thoughts when faced with challenges. Mental illness is as real as any physical illness. We talk normally about cancer and diabetes, although the same should apply to mental illness. Emotional and mental health are just as important as the physical health of a human being. The emotional trauma that a brain endures in various of the human life cycle can be damaging and in the long run, just as detrimental as a psychical illness. People donate their organs, but they cannot donate their brains. Some people live with human-made hearts, but there is no such thing as human-made brains. I believe that our brain is the most important organ in our human body, so why don’t we start taking good care of it? Therapy is not only for people with mental illness. Therapy is for everyone. We all have faced or currently face some hardships in life. Talking to a therapist can help you deeply in improving your mental health, decrease your stress and live with more joy and intention! I offer online counseling to help adults recover from childhood wounds. These issues can present as depression, anxiety, stress, low self-esteem and interpersonal challenges. I approach counseling as an opportunity to understand your story and help you develop a path to healing. It's human nature to want healthy relationships, meaningful work and activities you enjoy, to have a good quality of life. If you're experiencing ineffective communication skills, career dissatisfaction, parenting challenges, family/relationship stress or feelings overwhelm, I would be glad to help you improve upon these problems. I utilize the following models of treatment depending on the needs of each individual: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Mindfulness Interventions. I studied psychology at the University of Georgia, obtaining a B.A. in psychology in 1998. Later in my career, I obtained a Master of Social Work from Valdosta State University in 2011. Hello and welcome! I'm Sierra. I'm a queer, anti-racist Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Atlanta, Georgia. I started my career as a therapist at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and if there is one thing I learned from that time it's that, more often than not, it's not you- it's the system. Since then I have been helping fellow women and members of the LGBTQ+ community rebuild self-esteem, manage anxiety, and heal unresolved trauma. I also help families of LGBTQ+ youth gain understanding about their child's experience and empower them to provide the best support they can. We all have certain narratives we tell ourselves about ourselves, some helpful some not, and some of those stories aren't even ours. My goal is to help clients identify the unhelpful stories, where they came from, and help them create a new story. I like to incorporate both CBT/DBT coping skills and Jungian concepts such as inner child work to ensure a holistic healing approach for my clients. Whatever your healing journey looks like, I would consider it an honor and a privilege to walk it with you.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Georgia rather than a city like Atlanta?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Georgia from Athens to Savannah! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Georgia.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Depression?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Depression, is filtering therapists in Georgia that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
