About me

Hello and welcome! My name is Charlotte, and I am a licensed professional counselor dedicated to helping children, adolescents, adults, and families navigate life's challenges while building on their existing strengths. I believe that every individual and family has the ability to grow, heal, and create positive change when provided with the right support and tools. My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and client-centered. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to share their experiences. Together, we work to identify goals, develop healthy coping strategies, improve communication, strengthen relationships, and overcome obstacles that may be impacting daily life. I understand that beginning therapy can feel overwhelming, and I am committed to meeting each client and family where they are in their journey. I value building genuine, trusting relationships and believe that meaningful change occurs when clients feel supported, understood, and actively involved in the therapeutic process. My goal is to help clients recognize their strengths, develop resilience, and achieve lasting positive outcomes that support their overall well-being. I look forward to partnering with you and your family as we work toward your goals together.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation of trust and collaboration. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is essential to meaningful progress, so I focus on creating a comfortable and welcoming environment where clients can ask questions, share their concerns, and learn more about my approach to counseling. During this session, I take time to learn about what has brought you to therapy, your strengths, your challenges, and what you hope to achieve through the counseling process. Equally important, it is an opportunity for you, the client, and families to determine whether I am the right fit for their needs. Finding a counselor you feel comfortable with is an important part of the therapeutic journey. Together, we will begin identifying goals and discussing what you would like to gain from therapy. Whether those goals involve improving relationships, managing emotional challenges, developing coping skills, or navigating life transitions, we will work collaboratively to create a plan that is tailored to your unique needs and priorities.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths as a counselor is my ability to create a space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. I believe that meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship, and I strive to build trust by listening without judgment and meeting each client where they are in their journey. I bring empathy, patience, and authenticity to every session. I understand that seeking support can be difficult, and I work to create an environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, emotions, and experiences at their own pace. My goal is to help clients recognize their strengths, build resilience, and develop practical tools to navigate challenges both within themselves and within their relationships. I also value collaboration and believe that clients are the experts on their own lives. Rather than focusing solely on problems, I take a strengths-based approach that helps individuals and families identify what is already working and build upon those successes. Through compassion, encouragement, and honest communication, I aim to empower clients to make meaningful and lasting changes.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I don't have one specific "ideal client" because I genuinely enjoy working with a variety of individuals, families, and life experiences. The most important characteristic for me is not a particular age, diagnosis, or circumstance, but rather a willingness to participate in the counseling process. I appreciate working with clients who are open to being vulnerable, exploring their thoughts and emotions, and considering positive changes that support their growth and goals. I understand that change can be challenging, and I believe counseling is most effective when we work together as a team. My role is to provide support, guidance, and encouragement, while honoring each client's unique experiences and pace of progress. I value authenticity and believe that meaningful change is possible for anyone who is willing to take steps toward growth, no matter where they are starting from.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-informed care serves as the foundation of my counseling approach. I recognize that every person brings a unique history and set of experiences into therapy, and those experiences often influence how they view themselves, others, and the world around them. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" I strive to understand, "What have you experienced?" This perspective allows me to approach clients with compassion, curiosity, and respect while recognizing the resilience they have demonstrated in navigating life's challenges. I work hard to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to share their experiences at a pace that feels comfortable for them. I believe healing occurs when clients feel heard, validated, and actively involved in their own treatment. By focusing on strengths, fostering trust, and encouraging collaboration, I help clients and families build the skills and confidence needed to move toward meaningful and lasting change.
