I like to view psychotherapy and the therapeutic relationship as having a personal trainer for your emotional well being and personal life. It can teach relational skills and promote healing. It requires a commitment to yourself and serves as an investment. The return on that investment can be achieving goals, growth, and emotional satisfaction. There are many reasons someone may seek out a therapist, regardless of those reasons my goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where we can build a trusting therapeutic relationship that allows for healing and growth. I am a Licensed Psychotherapist with over 30 years of clinical experience specializing in grief and loss, trauma, PTSD, addiction, mood disorders, suicidal ideation and crisis intervention. I enjoy working with diverse cliental across all stages of life.

Welcome! I'm Tierra. Look, I know starting therapy can be empowering, confusing, or scary, all at the same time but here you are and I'm rooting for you! I am a dedicated licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and therapist committed to providing compassionate, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based care. My work focuses on supporting individuals who have experienced domestic violence, self-esteem challenges, relational issues, and grief. I strive to create a safe and affirming space where clients can process their experiences, heal from trauma, and rebuild their sense of self. Integrating various therapeutic approaches, I help clients navigate their emotions, develop coping strategies, and regain empowerment. My goal is to foster resilience, self-compassion, and meaningful transformation in their lives. Together, we will identify your challenges and goals - where you want your life to be a month, six months, a year from now. Then, we'll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You'll leave the session with a better understanding of what you're facing with an "actions I can take right now" approach. There will always be room for suggestions concerning our work together, including keeping each other accountable. If you want a therapist who meets you where you are, listens without judgment, and works alongside you to create real, lasting change, I’d love to support you on your journey. Whether you're navigating the aftermath of trauma, rebuilding self-confidence, or processing loss, you don’t have to do it alone. Let's work together to help you heal, grow, and move forward.

My name is Lee Maxwell; a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Maximum Wellness, LLC. I have lived and worked in Metro Atlanta for over two decades. I grew up in rural Georgia; born to older parents who instilled in me the value of connection with others and treating others as I would want to be treated. I gained my passion for working in Geriatrics from my mother, who, on most Sundays throughout my childhood, would take me along with her to visit a local nursing home. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Sociology from Georgia Southern University; followed by a graduate degree in Clinical Social Work from Savannah State University. I have been working in the field of mental health care for 25 years; 16 of which have been dedicated to providing psychotherapy services; primarily to a geriatric population. After working in senior living communities throughout the pandemic, I decided to afford myself the opportunity to work with a younger population; which I found to be refreshing and resulted in opening up my private practice to include services for all adults over the age of 18yo. I have been professionally licensed in the state of Georgia since 2009.

“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become” Carl Jung. The choice to “choose what to become” takes incredible courage, strength and perseverance. To help you get there, we will spend time understanding what's keeping you up at night or weighing you down during the day. My aim is to fully support you on this journey whilst always honoring your personal identity and lived experience. I've lived in different parts of the world as both a child and adult and this helps me to be particular sensitive to, and experienced in, cultural/identity issues together with the challenges of transitions, be they geographical, career/retirement, or relationships. I also have extensive experience of helping with addiction. It has been said that addiction is a "feelings disease" and whether it is a substance or behavioral addiction (e.g. gambling, food, spending, sex), I focus on addressing the addiction by resolving the feelings behind it together with providing practical support for long term recovery. Therapy looks different for everyone, and we will collaborate to create a supportive and empowering therapeutic relationship tailored to your specific needs. My clients say I am warm, friendly, easy to both talk to and to confide in. So, if you are facing challenges please do reach out. And thank you for taking the time to visit my profile.

Hi! I'm one of those people who has always been interested in mental health and it's impact on the life the of the individual, their family, community, and society at large. I have collaborated with clients to improve their mental health and well-being in many different settings. My experience comes from working at a hospital Emergency Department, a community organization, and a mental health agency serving individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and homelessness. Additionally, I have conducted individual and group therapy in a clinical setting. I have learned in my counseling experience that successful results require collaboration, commitment, and intentionality by both parties, the client and counselor. The client, as the expert of their life takes an active role in the treatment process and we work together for their best outcome by participating in treatment goal setting and keeping the change process alive by completing homework assignments, as needed, between counseling sessions. My hope is that an honest, trusting, and respectful relationship is built as the client realizes their best outcomes.

Hello, and welcome! I am Elena, a trilingual Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) from Atlanta, Georgia, and have been practicing since 2013. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University. For the past decade I had the privilege to work with incarcerated teens (and on probation, or in community) helping them approach problematic behaviors and improve these by avoiding future incarcerations. I serve pre-teens/adolescents 12-17 years old and young adults ages 18-25 by assisting them solve problems they cannot readily solve themselves. During our sessions we address issues such as depression, anxiety, family conflict, trauma, relationships, and anger management, among many other issues that might led to delinquency. My specialty is treating individuals with difficulties effectively communicating their needs within their relationships with parents, siblings, relatives, friends, etc., with an emphasis on assertiveness training for building and nurturing long-lasting interpersonal relationships. There is no one size fits all approach to therapy, so I like to tailor my approach to fit my client's unique needs. Here are a few of the clinical theories I use to guide my practice: Reality Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Treatment, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

Sonya Coy is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a and has been providing therapy for 19 years. She uses a technique called Rapid Resolution Therapy which is a technique that is used to help clients resolve challenges they are facing rapidly. Some clients have had challenges resolved in one session. Others have seen amazing results in 1 to 6 sessions. This process is painless, which helps the client eliminate the emotional pain without reliving the traumatic or stressful event by telling the therapist over and over again. Clients are able to eliminate negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors which bring peace to the soul. Sonya does not work with: grief, LGBT, abusive relationships, schizophrenia, and personality disorders. Sonya is committed to helping facilitate change and growth in her clients and works diligently to truly understand their needs. She specializes in working with adult clients who struggle with anxiety and who are stuck because of a trauma in their lives. Sonya understands that one therapy technique will not work for everyone and that she must adapt to her client and the way they learn and take in information. She has appeared as a guest therapist on Praise 102.5FM, Love 860AM, blog radio on Women Warriors and Business Leaders of Today. Sonya provides individual, family, and group therapy to adolescents and adults. Do you feel you are everywhere and nowhere simultaneously? Are you struggling to figure out how to find balance or real happiness? Do you want to change your life but just don't know how? Hi, I am Crystal and I am here to help! But HOW can I help, you may be thinking? Well, I can provide you with a safe and non judgemental space in which you can re-focus on what is truly important to you by walking along side of you on your therapeutic journey of self-awareness. Together we will develop a treatment plan that will help us reach your desired outcomes. I have found that incorporating the arts into therapy is quite beneficial since sometimes words can not capture our emotions as intensely or as accurately as a song or piece of art can. I also love to use mindfulness and bibliotherapy with clients and have been amazed at the success of using all of these approaches. You have taken the first step towards your new life already by researching which led you here. Won't you take that next step and connect today so that we can begin your journey? Change is hard, but I will be here to support you every step of the way!

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Georgia rather than a city like Atlanta?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Georgia from Athens to Savannah! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Georgia.

Will my therapist take Harvard Pilgrim/UnitedHealthcare?

Yes! If you use Harvard Pilgrim/UnitedHealthcare you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have Harvard Pilgrim/UnitedHealthcare you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
