LCSW, 30 years of experience
Hi, I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Georgia. I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Georgia and have been practicing over 30 years. I am passionate, hard-working, and my goal is to create a safe and supportive environment while assisting you with your healing, finding a balance, and helping you become the person you were created to become.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help us create a tailored plan to work through in follow-up sessions.
I am an advocate for my clients and able to comprehensively think through and problem solve issues and barriers. I believe in meeting the client where they are, working with them to reach their goals without imposing judgement. Compassion, loyalty, and dedication are skills I bring to the therapeutic alliance, which helps to build a relationship of trust where all issues can be discussed without concern.
I enjoy working with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. My experiences include but are not limited to providing social services and counseling while working with children, adolescents, and adults within schools, out patient settings, and communities. I have unique experiences with adoption and foster care. My expectation for a client is they be willing to work in order to maximize the therapeutic relationship that will be formed.

I've had the pleasure to work with April over the past six months. She's a great listener, compassionate, and speaks to the root of your issues. It's the honestly that means a ton, and giving the proper skills as well as tools have helped me tremendously. Also, she doesn't try to rush you through your healing. She takes her time and helps you walk through your journey.

I’ve been seeing April for several months, and her support has been life-changing. As an adult on the autism spectrum, finding someone who truly understands my experience hasn’t been easy—but April does. She create a calm, respectful space where I feel heard and accepted. Her strategies have helped me better manage anxiety, navigate social situations, and build confidence in everyday life. I highly recommend April to any adult on the spectrum looking for compassionate, knowledgeable care.
I was trained in CBT, earning an primary certification, and have used my training for the past 30 years. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy works well for clients who are willing and able to focus on current thinking patterns and behaviors. It will help individuals identify and challenge negative thoughts and develop new patterns of thinking which support healthy thoughts and emotions. I utilize CBT practices to help those individuals who desire to identify the underlying beliefs that lead to emotions such as anxiety or challenge depressive thinking patterns that are leading to inaction or self-harming behaviors.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment emphasizes strengths and solutions rather than problems and weaknesses. SFBT works to identify the problem of focus, the interactions that support the focus, and develop a strategy to eliminate the problem's hold on the family or person.
