Hello! I am a professional counselor based in Georgia. I received my masters from Georgia State University in 2014 and I have been practicing ever since. Through my role as a counselor, I really enjoy getting to know people and helping them work toward their goals. I believe people are capable of creating their own change and it is truly a privilege to be able to be a part of that process
The first session is really about us getting to know each other. Typically, this starts with exploring a little about what is bringing you to counseling and exploring your goals. In order to understand those goals, I work toward learning about who and what is important to you. I also do review limits of confidentiality and go over any logistical questions you may have.
I truly enjoy learning about people and their stories. I am non judgement and have a curiosity for how peoples experiences are affecting their current lives. Therapy is not easy, but I do find that when people feel heard, they are capable of healing and making desired changes.
I strive to meet clients where they are and move at a pace where they are comfortable. I find that I work best with clients who are curious and interested in learning more about themselves both present past. I am also enjoy working with client's who are looking for support or simply trying to understand themselves better.
I believe in people's ability to heal and guide themselves when provided nurturing conditions. I work to listen and help people determine their own goals, hopes, and desires and through unconditional positive regard, I help client gain insight into the changes they need to make for themselves.
Gender affirming therapy is essential for best practice. My clients are the experts in who they are so I work to provide a space where they can feel safe being themselves regardless of gender or sexual orientation
As a registered play therapist, I have years of experience working with children, adolescents and their families. Currently, I really enjoy connecting to this population through parenting work. Parents are the most significant change agent for children and working to help parents better understand their child and their child's diagnosis, can help parents feel more confident in their abilities and forge a more compassionate and patient connection between parent and child.
