Hi! My name is Elyse and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Georgia. I am currently providing telehealth services to adults. I have over 10 years of experience in working with adults with a variety of life stressors. I use a strengths-based perspective to work with clients to move forward in a positive manner. Challenges and stress happen in every day life. Let’s work together to find the best way to cope and resolve unwanted feelings.
My goal is to provide a safe, understanding, empathetic and therapeutic environment at every turn. Our first session is spent getting to know each other. Starting therapy can be intimidating. I am here to provide you with the knowledge necessary and answer any questions that you may have. We will spend our time going through background information and history to identify and discuss treatment goals for moving forward.
I utilize a strengths-based perspective with empathetic listening and understanding. It is important for me as a therapist to provide a safe environment at all times. I take pride in confidentiality and creating a comfortable setting to foster the therapeutic relationship.
There are many reasons a person seeks therapy. The therapeutic journey is individualized for each person. I have knowledge and understanding in many areas. Have you lost a loved one and are struggling to cope with the loss? Do you have substance abuse or addiction struggles that are affecting your family or work life? Are every day life stressors becoming too overwhelming to handle on your own? Or maybe past trauma has taken away the peace and calmness that you so desperately need and deserve. Whatever the case may be, therapy is a safe place to unload your worries and problems with a compassionate and understanding person on the other side.
I utilize a strengths-based perspective in all aspects of my interactions with clients. It is important for clients to see that they have the strength to change their lives.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is strong evidence-based practice that encourages clients to learn and change behaviors that are troubling to them.
At the root of most issues in your life, trauma lies within. I utilize trauma-focused CBT to educate clients and find the root of the problem.
Compassion-focused therapy is a therapeutic approach that aims to help those who struggle with shame and self-criticism, often resulting from early experiences of abuse or neglect. CFT teaches clients to cultivate the skills of self-compassion and other-oriented compassion, which are thought to help regulate mood and lead to feelings of safety, self-acceptance, and comfort. The technique is similar to mindfulness-based cognitive therapy in that it also instructs clients about the science behind the mind-body connection and how to practice mind and body awareness.
I am EMDR trained and utilize this form of therapy to process unresolved trauma in a more positive and less threatening way.
