My Professional Background and Counseling Philosophy
My passion for mental health has shaped my work with individuals, families, and communities across a variety of settings. Over the years, I have had the privilege of collaborating with clients to enhance their well-being, drawing on my experience across diverse settings, including hospital Emergency Departments, psychiatric units, community organizations, and mental health agencies. My professional journey includes supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, assisting those facing mental illness, and working with people who have experienced homelessness and hopelessness. I have also provided both individual and group therapy within clinical settings.
Counseling Philosophy
At the core of my counseling practice is the belief that meaningful change occurs through collaboration and purposeful effort. I view my clients as the experts in their own lives and encourage them to take an active role in their treatment by investing time and energy in the process. Together, we identify the outcomes that matter most to the client and work to ensure consistent progress toward those goals. My approach centers on empowering clients by fostering self-awareness and resilience, and I am dedicated to ensuring every individual feels heard, understood, and supported throughout their therapeutic journey.
Commitment to Client Autonomy
What distinguishes my counseling style is a steadfast commitment to honoring each client’s autonomy. For example, I have worked with clients who struggle with anxiety and self-doubt. By collaborating closely, we identify the client’s unique strengths and develop practical coping strategies tailored to their needs. As clients move through this process, they gradually regain their confidence and begin taking meaningful steps toward their desired outcomes. This experience reinforced for me the importance and effectiveness of a supportive, empowering therapeutic alliance. In every interaction, my focus is on achieving the best possible results and facilitating lasting, positive change.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker with 5 years of experience in social work in varying helping and counseling roles. I earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia. I am also certified in Advanced grief counseling.
My goal is to meet people where they are in their journey toward improvement and assisting them to work through the barriers that come up in life so they feel more confident working through them more successfully and independently outside of therapy. I have an eclectic approach so I will adjust strategies from issue to issue. I provide a safe therapeutic space to discuss any difficulties you face in life. So far I have had the opportunity to work with people from various ages and backgrounds from four years old to over one hundred years old.
I am a mental health counselor licensed in Arizona, Florida, New Hampshire and Georgia with over 14 years of experience working with individuals and families. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, addiction, gender identity issues and grief/loss. I have also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. I am trained as an a veteran suicide specialist and I am a certified trauma therapist. My counseling style is warm, caring and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don’t believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused and rational-emotive counseling. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs as it is important to meet you where you are at and use your expertise as well. It takes courage to seek out help for a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you. I live by the view that if you can change the way you look at things the things you look at can change. This slight change in perspective can make a world of difference in your life! Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to working with you!
