LPC, 9 years of experience
I possess a longstanding interest in mental health and its impact on individuals, families, and communities. Over the years, I have collaborated with clients to improve their well-being in a variety of settings. My experience includes work at a hospital Emergency Department, a hospital psychiatric unit, community organizations, and a mental health agency. I have served individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and those experiencing homelessness and hopelessness. Additionally, I have provided individual and group therapy in clinical settings. Counseling Philosophy In my counseling practice, I believe successful results come through collaboration and intentional effort. The client, as the expert in their own life, takes an active role in treatment by investing their time. Together, we set goals and ensure the process continues to move forward. Empowering clients by fostering self-awareness and resilience is central to my approach, as is making sure each person feels heard, understood, and supported throughout their journey. Commitment to Client Autonomy What sets my counseling style apart is my commitment to respecting my client's autonomy. For instance, I once worked with a client who struggled with anxiety and self-doubt. Through a collaborative approach, we identified the client's strengths and developed practical coping strategies. As the client worked through the process, they regained the confidence they once had and began taking steps toward their desired outcomes. This experience reinforced the value of a supportive, empowering therapeutic alliance. In every interaction, always aiming for the best possible results and lasting change.
In our first session, we'll get to know one another and talk about your goals and discuss how we can work together to achieve them, providing a clear and supportive starting point. Throughout the process, you remain in control of your journey, making choices that align with your values and hopes. I will support you as you explore the changes that matter most to you, ensuring your preferences and autonomy guide each step we take together.
Having worked with a diverse population, I’ve learned to communicate with compassion. I accept each client’s abilities and respect their autonomy within the therapeutic alliance, which supports their progress. For instance, I actively listen to my clients’ concerns and tailor my approach to honor their individual preferences. This fosters trust and encourages meaningful progress.
Many clients seek to improve their well-being but may feel unsure about where to begin. Scheduling an appointment for therapy is an empowering first step, demonstrating your motivation and readiness for change.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) has allowed clients to acknowledge their expertise in their own lives which leads to increased self-confidence and self-efficacy. I work with clients as they focus on identifying and amplifying their strengths and resources to help them achieve their best outcomes.
Our well-being is determined by how we think. A well-balanced life is all about positive and hopeful cognition. Our thoughts tell us and others who we are because our thinking is ultimately reflected in our emotions and behavior. I work with clients to change maladaptive beliefs and negative cognition to live a more positive and hopeful lifestyle.

I felt Ameta was a good listener with grounding advice and insight. She helped me shift perspective on some things instead of just agreeing with everything I said. It was nice to have empathy with the honest and direct input you would get from a caring friend.

I'm glad to come across Ameta Jasper's practice. She seems warm and authentic. It turns out we are from the same hometown, which makes me feel like she might understand me better.

I have found Ameta by chance through this website. I have been in therapy before in my life and I'm so grateful to have found her. I don't want her to just listen to my stories. I want her input too and she gives me that.
