I am a Child and Adolescent Therapist dedicated to supporting healthy, happy childhoods. When life brings challenges such as anxiety, depression, anger, grief and loss, or major life transitions, including adjusting to parental separation or divorce, I walk alongside my clients to foster healing, growth, and hope. I hold a Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Georgia State University. With over 20 years of experience supporting individuals, families, and groups, I consider it a true calling to help children, adolescents, and their families navigate life’s challenges. My approach is grounded in compassion and collaboration, empowering clients to build resilience and discover strength and healing even in life’s most difficult moments.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session, I will begin with an interview with the parent or guardian, followed by a brief introduction to the child or adolescent. We will meet together to discuss your specific goals and provide an overview of the therapeutic process, which includes individual therapy that integrates a personalized blend of dynamic and supportive, evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s developmental stage. Parent consultations are an integral part of each child’s treatment plan, fostering collaboration and supporting progress toward their goals. Parent Consultations are scheduled every 4–6 sessions or as requested. These meetings offer guidance and equip parents with practical tools and strategies to strengthen relationships, navigate challenging topics, and cultivate a healthier, more supportive home environment. In addition, Family Sessions are available to clients receiving individual therapy. These sessions provide a supportive space to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships, complementing the individual therapy process and promoting overall progress.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My approach integrates a creative blend of person-centered, cognitive behavioral, and play therapy approaches, using expressive arts, books, games, and Tele Play to support connection and engagement in the virtual space. I tailor interventions to each client, combining relationship-based work, play-based expression, and practical skill-building to create a meaningful and engaging therapeutic experience.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Children (6-12) and teens (13-17) who are struggling with anxiety, depression, anger, grief and loss, or navigating major life transitions seeking a safe, supportive space to explore their emotions, build coping skills, and develop resilience. They will benefit from personalized guidance, engaging activities, and therapeutic tools designed for their developmental stage. Parental involvement is welcomed to support progress, reinforce skills at home, and ensure a holistic approach to emotional well-being.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
My work is grounded in a person-centered approach that prioritizes creating a safe, accepting space where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I lead with empathy, honesty, and respect, allowing clients to explore their feelings at their own pace. Rather than pushing an agenda, I focus on building a strong, trusting relationship and supporting clients as they develop insight, confidence, and a deeper understanding of themselves.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I blend Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles with my person-centered approach by staying grounded in empathy, trust, and collaboration while using practical tools to support change. I prioritize building a safe, accepting relationship, then gently introduce CBT strategies in a way that feels supportive rather than prescriptive. Together, we explore thought patterns and coping skills at a pace that feels right for each client, helping them build insight and confidence while feeling understood and respected throughout the process.
Play Therapy
Through a Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) approach, I meet kids where they are and use play as a natural, meaningful way for them to express themselves, even in a virtual setting. I create a warm, predictable space where children can explore their feelings through tools like a virtual dollhouse, sand tray, games, books, and expressive arts, both on and off the screen. By keeping sessions playful, relational, and flexible, I focus on building connection and supporting emotional growth, using technology as a bridge to understanding rather than a barrier.
