Are you a woman who feels stuck in life? Maybe you're living with regrets about the past, frustration about the present, or worry about the future. If this sounds like you, I would like to help. Hi! I'm Malika. I am a licensed clinical social worker, with a Masters degree in Social Work from The University of Georgia. I have worked in hospitals, hospice agencies, home-based medical care, and behavioral health hospitals. I believe that wellness includes mental, physical and spiritual wholeness. Life's journey can be difficult, but within my therapeutic space, you'll find solace, understanding, and unwavering support.
In our time together, I aim to create an environment where you feel safe to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment. Each session is an opportunity for you to be heard, valued, and supported. My goal is for you to leave each encounter feeling affirmed, validated, and one step closer to realizing your aspirations. Whether you're navigating challenging emotions or life transitions, I am here to accompany you on your path to healing and self-discovery.
Having worked with women in life transition for many years, I have discovered how to help them tap into their own strengths, get unstuck, and live meaningful lives.
I have a special interest in working with Millennial and Gen X women who transitioning from young adult to midlife. These women often experience anxiety and depression related to various life transitions (e.g. empty nest syndrome, career changes, caring for an aging parent, etc.) that can leave them feeling stuck and unfulfilled. I aim to help these women discover their true identities in order to begin pursuing their goals. Although I do not practice exclusively from a Christian framework, I welcome women who wish to incorporate their Christian faith into their therapy journey.
Malika Boyd offers therapy covered by Medicaid - Peach State Health Plan and Peach State Health Plan (Managed Medicaid) in Georgia.
I believe that negative, self-defeating, and inaccurate thoughts are often the root of depression and anxiety. In utilizing CBT in my practice, I aim to help women challenge those unhelpful thoughts, reframing them into more realistic and healthy thoughts.
"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf." - Jon Kabat Zinn. I believe that this quote perfectly illustrates how you can live a meaningful life, despite inevitable life stressors, disappointments, and losses. ACT (pronounced as 'act', not A.C.T.) will teach you how to spend less energy trying deny and avoid your emotions. This is exhausting, and keeps you stuck! Instead, you commit to making positive changes in your life that align with your personal values.
When you're facing overwhelming challenges, sometimes even basic needs feel out of reach, and you need help right away. That's exactly where Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) shines. My experience with SFBT has shown me its incredible power in helping people just like you. Instead of dwelling on what's wrong, we'll quickly turn our attention to what's going right, what strengths you already possess, and what small steps you can take today to start making things better. The core idea is simple: you have the answers within you, and we'll unlock them. The benefit for you is clear: you'll gain hope, actionable strategies, and see tangible positive changes happening surprisingly fast, even when things feel most difficult. It's about getting you moving forward, quickly and effectively, toward the life you want.
