New to Grow
My name is Silke and I have lived in Georgia for almost 14 years now. I was born and raised in Austria. I started my career in the mental health field in my early twenties working in a mental health hospital in the department for Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy for 8 years before I transitioned to an outpatient setting before I took on a position as a mental health therapist in a counseling center.
Our first counseling session is primarily an intake session and focuses on gathering background information, defining your goals, discussing why you are seeking help, and reviewing confidentiality. It is a safe and confidential space for you to determine if I am a good fit for you. It is completely normal to feel nervous in our first session.
I provide you with a safe and non-judgmental space. I do believe that the therapeutic relationship between me and client is the most critical factor in therapy. A strong therapeutic alliance fosters a safe, trusting, and collaborative environment which allows clients to engage deeply, feel supported, and achieve better, long-lasting mental health outcomes.
I see clients who struggle with life transitions, depression, and anxiety. Adults who have trust issues, can't form close bonds, and find themselves repeatedly in unhealthy relationships. Often times clients tell me that they feel stuck, lack energy and motivation, get irritated easily, have a short temper, and feels hopeless and anxious. They want to make changes but don't know where to start.
Attachment-based
I focus on repairing insecure attachments formed in early childhood to improve current emotional regulation and relationship quality. Attachment-based therapy provides my clients with tool to manage their emotions effectively, reduce anxiety and reactivity. Processing early childhood neglect, trauma, or abuse can be difficult but I am here to walk this journey with you. We will be exploring childhood history, identifying triggers, slowing down automatic responses to conflicts, and building emotional communication skills. Attachment-based therapy helps clients to build a stronger sense of self-worth and confidence.
