Hello, and welcome! I am Elena, a trilingual Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) from Atlanta, Georgia, and have been practicing since 2013. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University. For the past decade I worked with incarcerated teens (and on probation, or in community) helping them approach problematic behaviors and improve these by avoiding future incarcerations. I serve pre-teens/adolescents 12-17 years old and young adults ages 18-25 by assisting them solve problems they cannot readily solve themselves. During our sessions we address issues such as depression, anxiety, family conflict, trauma, relationships, and anger management, among many other issues that might led to delinquency. My specialty is treating individuals with difficulties effectively communicating their needs within their relationships with parents, siblings, relatives, friends, etc., with an emphasis on assertiveness training for building and nurturing long-lasting interpersonal relationships. There is no one size fits all approach to therapy, so I like to tailor my approach to fit my client's unique needs. Here are a few of the clinical theories I use to guide my practice: Reality Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Treatment, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

Have you noticed that your child is acting differently– not as interested in school work, arguing more, changed her habits or friends, lost interest in hobbies, is more withdrawn? Have you tried to cheer your child up, cajoled her, or maybe you’ve taken away privileges, like the phone or computer time in an effort to correct behavior but nothing seems to work? If you’ve come to the end of your rope and want solutions, I can help. As a parent of two boys I have walked the winding, rocky, breathtaking path of parenthood. As a therapist, I have worked with a broad range of children, adolescents, and their parents to not only get through rough spots or trauma but to have it be the foundation of a stronger, more connected family relationship. Because this platform is based in providing telehealth virtually, and not in person, I have found it best to serve clients that are 10 years old (3rd grade) and older.

Hi, I’m Sierra (she/her). I help queer, neurodivergent babes caught in the pattern of people pleasing swap burnout for boundaries and self-doubt for self-love! As a lesbian woman with ADHD, raised in the Bible Belt, I know what it’s like to feel like you’re “too much” and “not enough” all at once. In my youth, I was the one holding space for everyone else. I navigated the world with a heart that was often deemed “too sensitive.” I became a chronic rescuer, fearful people would leave me if they didn’t need me. I poured myself into caretaking, not realizing how much I was abandoning myself in the process. Now, after diligent work with my shadow parts, I have relationships that can hold space for both my loved ones and myself. I now give myself permission to “be done” with spaces that no longer serve me rather than lingering for fear of change or hurt feelings. Therapy isn’t a quick fix, because nothing is actually broken. It is a continuous homecoming. Whether you’re navigating neurodivergence, queerness, debilitating overthinking, or the burnout of trying in vain to be everything to everyone, I’m here to support you. Together, we’ll untangle the internalized “shoulds,” reconnect you with your own internal compass, and build something softer, freer, and more sustainable. This is your invitation to come as you are, messy parts and all.

I will utilize interventions like CBT, existential, art-therapy, solution-focused, etc., to help gain healthy coping skills and knowledge to work through all of life's challenges. I love to use humor, support and empowerment to build a strong relationship with each client. I always tell the people I work with that the therapy relationship can work as a model for creating healthy relationships, and I work towards creating an environment that can model that.

Tara Sanders is a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) and has been in the mental health field for 20 + yrs. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree from Clark Atlanta University and earned her Master’s of Science degree from Abilene Christian University. She has a wide range of career experience that allows her to adapt to the varied needs of her clients. Her diverse experience was derived from working in an all-male maximum-security prison, her position as a school counselor to provide counseling services to children in need of temporary, situational, and/or ongoing emotional challenges, her years acting as a mobile crisis assessor, and her role as supervisor for a state-wide crisis hotline. Additionally, she worked as a Military Family Life Counselor for 10 years overseas in Europe (German and Italy) and stateside. Tara believes that individuals who are entering counseling should feel comfortable and safe which is why she uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an approach that highlights channeling negative thoughts into positive ones. She believes that stressors in one’s life can feel unmanageable, but she helps her clients to maximize their resiliency and come to view the challenge as a bump in the road --a bump that can be moved past into a successful healthier path. Her goal is for all her patients to become open to gaining new perspectives and be willing to explore family dynamics and upbringings that have developed them into the persons they are today. Tara works with her clients to assist them with changing any self-defeating thoughts and behaviors. She truly believes that caring for yourself and your relationships are the most important task that you will ever have.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Georgia rather than a city like Atlanta?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Georgia from Athens to Savannah! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Georgia.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
