(she/her)
Welcome! Perhaps you have set up countless routines or schedules and find that you struggle following through no matter how hard you try. You notice your to-do list grows and grows with no end in sight. You want to keep your negative thoughts and feelings quiet and hidden, but they are constantly interrupting you. There is a pesky inner voice that keeps reminding you that you aren’t good enough, or you lie awake at night ruminating about your failures. I am here to give you a safe place to express all of these things and more. Schedule your first appointment with me and we will work together on leaving these negative patterns in the past.
During your first session with me, we will dive into where you are right now– with no judgment on how you got here. We will explore where you want to go and what you want your goals to be for treatment and for life. I will invite you to share what you are comfortable sharing and set the stage for an environment where you feel safe and comfortable.
As a provider in the field for over 17 years, I strive to meet you where you are but not let you remain comfortable in staying there. Your therapy process is dynamic and ever changing. I have many tried and true strategies and I am also always learning and seeking new knowledge and techniques. Most importantly, I want your feedback on what is working for you. I enjoy helping people work through struggles with anxiety/ stress, life transitions, and trauma/ tragedy. I have also worked extensively with individuals with ADHD, depression, and other mood disorders. I believe the systems we exist in impact us in ways we cannot always see or understand at first glance. I want to help you see, understand, and change unhealthy patterns, whether in your thinking or within your relationships and interactions with others. Maybe you keep hearing about boundaries but aren’t sure what that really means or why you need them. Perhaps you struggle with pleasing people or feel like you must constantly wear a mask to hide your true self. My Masters degree in clinical psychology and additional training beyond graduate school in Trauma informed care and systems theory give me a perspective to help you work not only on individual growth but how you impact and are impacted by the systems in your life. Together we will focus on how you can enact change, starting within yourself.
I enjoy working with individuals who are not sure what to do with their “big feelings.” Perhaps you are in a place where you know you are feeling things but aren’t even sure how to put it into words. Let’s uncover this together. Whether it's rejection sensitivity, negative self-talk, difficulty healing from your past-- we will work together to explore how these impact you but do not define who you are. We will focus on working together to identify negative patterns in your thinking or in your relationships that are keeping you in a place of feeling “stuck.” You will gain a better understanding of what it means to truly show compassion and acceptance toward yourself.
CBT is not only a therapy model, it is a change in our thinking patterns that impacts our mood, relationships, work life, home life, everything! I use CBT to help you learn to compassionately accept your thoughts and how they impact your emotions and choices and we work together on how to modify these thoughts to help you improve feelings of hopelessness, depression, anxiety, or stress.
You are ultimately in control of your therapy and your life. Sometimes you just need a place to put it all together so you can move through your pain and grow into the person you desire to be. You are the expert of you! I use an empathic and nonjudgmental approach to assist you in deciding your own potential, your own goals, and when you are ready for change.
Trauma often has a life long impact on relationships, daily functioning, and contributes to other mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety. I strive to create a space that is mindful of your experience where you can feel safe to express your feelings related to trauma. We may work on mindfulness, grounding, or learning how to be more compassionate with yourself. We will work together to learn to recognize your triggers and how to feel safe in your body again.
