Welcome! I’m Heather Cassels, LPC. For over 15 years my goal has been to help clients reach their potential and work through their struggles of depression, anxiety, trauma, and tragedy. Perhaps you were nervous, scared, curious, excited, or even numb when you started looking through therapist profiles. Maybe you are wondering if now is the right time, place, or moment. Congratulations on taking the next step! My goal is to help guide you in taking each next step in achieving your goals. My skills lie not only in helping you grow individually, but understanding how you exist in the systems within your life. We will explore how to enact and accept change within those systems to reach your personal goals and if you don't know what those goals are yet-- no worries, I can help you in your journey to discover them.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

We will not only address where you came from, but where you are going. We will work together on determining what the next step is for you to have more enjoyment in your daily life and find the little joys each day may bring. You deserve to feel good!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I strive to meet you where you are, and help you not to stay there. Therapy is a dynamic process that we go through together. I can help you clarify your goals and work on meaningful progress. My approach involves helping you practice radical self-compassion that is both fierce and gentle. My therapy style involves a lot of talking, but also a lot more doing! If you are ready to begin the work of addressing challenges and creating new patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating– book an appointment with me and go ahead and take that next step!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is not only a therapy model, it is a change in our thinking patterns that impacts our mood, relationships, work life, home life, everything! I use CBT to help you learn to compassionately accept your thoughts and how they impact your emotions and choices and we work together on how to modify these thoughts to help you improve feelings of hopelessness, depression, anxiety, or stress.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

You are ultimately in control of your therapy and your life. Sometimes you just need a place to put it all together so you can move through your pain and grow into the person you desire to be. You are the expert of you! I use an empathic and nonjudgmental approach to assist you in deciding your own potential, your own goals, and when you are ready for change.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma often has a life long impact on relationships, daily functioning, and contributes to other mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety. I strive to create a space that is mindful of your experience where you can feel safe to express your feelings related to trauma. We may work on mindfulness, grounding, or learning how to be more compassionate with yourself. We will work together to learn to recognize your triggers and how to feel safe in your body again.
