Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Georgia. I’m also licensed in Texas and have been practicing for 15 years. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and licensed professional counselor with 20 years of experience. I am fond of saying that I believe in the healing power of relationships, which is a big reason why I do what I do as a therapist. I have experience working with kids, couples, families, and adult individuals. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I am no stranger to helping those in struggling relationships and marriages. I also have an extensive history in working with individuals struggling with many different issues including (but not limited to) anxiety, over-thinking, perfectionism, depression, rejection/abandonment issues, sexual issues, inferiority feelings, panic, and trauma. While my approach is very much evidence based, I often remark that I am more like a tour-guide helping others better understand their own emotional world. You are the one doing the work, I am just making connections and pointing out the interesting tidbits along the way.

Have you felt undervalued in your relationships? Have you felt like your picker was broken and you’ve experienced the same relationships over and over? Have you ever felt like you don’t know who you are or what you want for your life or that you lose yourself and your standards inside relationships with others? Have you found yourself repeating the same ineffective behavior while desiring a difference? Hi! I am Fatima, a licensed marriage and family therapist currently providing virtual therapy in the state of Georgia. A graduate of Mercer School of Medicine, I have over 7 years of experience working with women navigating relational crises. My focus is on empowering women to recognize and break free from unproductive patterns, helping them reconnect with their true identity and build healthier relationships. I assist in setting and achieving practical goals that lead to long-lasting transformation in areas such as self-esteem, boundaries, and emotional well-being. In 2012 I began my grad school application essay by saying that it had taken me 62 years to discover what I wanted to be when I grew up. I have now been practicing for about 10 years and I bring to my practice a love for learning and exploring, combined with a steadfast belief in not only the ability, but the right of people to grow and heal. I use techniques from a number of therapeutic modalities, and even pull from my own life experience and my training as a coach. I prefer whenever possible to be client-led because I believe that we each have the answers we need within ourselves, and that you are the expert on you. That means my job is to develop a trusting relationship between us, to listen deeply, and reflect with you, encouraging and guiding you to reach your goals. I find this to be the most exciting and rewarding work I have ever done, and look forward to a collaboration based on who you are and what you need.

Greetings! Secular psychotherapist here. Is taking care of everyone but yourself breaking you down? Tired of being called “co-dependent”? Do you have beliefs that are different from others and feel a little “off”? Are you becoming more and more anxious or depressed? You're not alone. I help those looking for a professional confidant and can help with processing difficult transitions and even traumas. Maybe the transition you are going through is attempting to take care of aging parents while raising a family of your own. Or perhaps you are having difficulty setting boundaries with a toxic person in your life. Perhaps you are having difficulty with relationships due to a past that seems ever so present. My therapeutic style is empathetic and interpersonal. Person-centered. I use evidence-based talk therapy (Acceptance & Commitment, Narrative, etc.) and mindfulness techniques. I believe in our getting to know one another well over time. I welcome diversity in my practice, including those with other than traditional orientations: religious, sexual, gender, or otherwise. Hit the “Book Session” today to find out if we are a fit.

I always knew that I wanted to be a helping professional. As part of an assignment, while taking a counseling course designed to assist offenders with substance abuse problems, I had to write in five words or less what I wanted people to remember about me. My words were “helped people live better lives.” I have over 30 years of experience working with clients who live with psychiatric and substance use disorders. I started my "helping" career working for the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC). After observing the effects of early childhood trauma on many of the offenders that I supervised, I decided to end my 21-year career with GDC and pursue an education in counseling. I have never regretted this decision! For the last 6 years I have provided psychotherapy for individuals and groups. I love doing what I believe I have been called to do and my life's work remains guided by those five simple words in my title. I look forward to helping you learn to live a better life!

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Georgia rather than a city like Atlanta?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Georgia from Athens to Savannah! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Georgia.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
