LPC, 7 years of experience
New to Grow
I am a Chicago native, who has been practicing for seven years in the state of Georgia. I received my bachelor’s degree from the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Psychology , masters in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling and actively pursuing a doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership from Adler University. I am a fun, loving, compassionate leader and servant to my community and I bring elements of myself through my experience and training. I’m not an expert of all things, just my experience and I like to help navigating my clients to own their expertise and sharpen their skillsets.
Typically I have an assignment where you create a timeline of life events from birth to present. This can be done as detailed as you like and using creative expression such as PowerPoints, playlist, or simply writing bullets. We will discuss this, mutually identify themes, and use this as a basis of our work together along with your therapeutic goals.
My greatest strength is authenticity and safety. I am myself, and in order for you to feel safe and authentic I choose to model this. I also provide space for you to be you and say what you need to say without judgment. I am fair, objective, subjective and I hold space for grace and accountability. I feel with people, using empathy to breed connection.
Ideally, I want clients who are ready to work and commit to making themselves better. I like communication when there are issues such as time changes, payments, effectiveness of therapist etc. If you’re willing to work, I will meet you where you are.
The use of CBT creates a connection between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors impact each other and if we change our thoughts, we change how we feel and behave.
I specifically used dance/movement therapy, creative arts, and mindfulness to process feelings, regulate emotions, and repattern thoughts and behaviors.
Understanding the impact of trauma on the body and how it impacts relationships, behaviors and sense of safety.
Understanding parts of self and how to identify parts, integrate these parts and build identity of core self.
Identifying strengths helps to engage clients and shift perspectives from negative quality to empower clients with positive traits.
