Growth and change are possible with a caring and supportive therapist. If you are thinking about beginning therapy, you are probably experiencing challenges, uneasiness, or uncertainties in one or more areas of your life. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over twenty years' experience, I have worked with adolescents and adults to overcome many types of obstacles, achieve their goals, and live happier lives. I work together with clients to develop skills and resolve a variety of issues including stress, anxiety, depression addiction, trauma, and grief. I completed a PhD in Counseling at Georgia State University in Atlanta and specialize in helping adults and adolescents lead more fulfilling and productive lives. I employ a variety of therapies and combine engaged and understanding listening along with education and skills development to assist people in taking successful steps toward meeting their goals. I believe all areas of our lives are connected, and mental health is an area which impacts all aspects of life. If you are experiencing difficulty with troubling behaviors, relationships, or conflict, I would like to support you in growth, restoration, and reaching your full potential. Seeking help can be difficult, but a more rewarding life is possible. Remember change is always happening. Take the first step and let's talk!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will briefly get to know each other. We will also explore the challenging situations you are currently facing in your life. This will help us to work together in developing a plan to meet your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe all individuals are worthy of dignity and respect. I work with all individuals and understand each situation is unique. I work in a non-judgmental way to help you see your values, strengths and abilities to have a rewarding life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I primarily use CBT to assist clients in understanding the thoughts behind their feelings and behaviors in relation to solving problems. This type of therapy can help individuals understand the relationships between beliefs, emotions and behaviors that follow. Changing unwanted thoughts, feelings, and behaviors requires an integrative approach to therapy. This form of therapy can be effective in helping with a wide range of issues.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Each individual is unique and utilizing a variety of techniques can help to tailor treatment to specific needs. In addition to CBT, I also employ skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (BDT). DBT is helpful in teaching people how to live in the present moment, cope with stress in healthy ways, better regulate their emotions, and have better relationships.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is effective in assisting individuals in identifying the reasons a change is wanted, making a commitment to change, and developing a plan to make changes. Together we will explore feelings and motivations to make changes and discuss ways to do so.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Taking a mindfulness-based approach allows clients to focus on the present moment in a non-judgmental way. These techniques can be helpful in reducing stress and increasing openness in relation to difficult situations. This form of treatment is also effective when coupled with an overall wellness-based approach, allowing an individual to see all aspects of their lives and how challenges effect each area.
