Erin Cantrell
Hello! With over 20 years in the medical field I have begun to understand the complex relationship between physical illness, life transitions, and mental well-being. Add my own personal journey through faith, anxiety, post-partum depression, and a not so perfect health ... I have a unique approach to therapy. My therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in my Christian faith. I believe that true healing and resilience begin when we know our identity and security in Christ. By understanding who we are and how deeply we are loved by Him, we build the solid foundation necessary to navigate, endure, and overcome the pressures of this world. I provide evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) integrated with a foundation of Christian discipleship, helping clients align their thought patterns with psychological health and biblical truth. I also believe true healing and resilience involve the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. My true healing began when I also paid attention to how to best support my body physically. We will also explore how daily physical habits, such as what we eat and how we move, impact your overall well-being.
First session
In our very first session together, we will lay a strong foundation for your healing journey by anchoring our time in faith and the truth of scripture. As a faith-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) therapist, my approach views discipleship in Christ not just as an addition to therapy, but as the absolute root and framework of everything we do. We will begin by getting to know each other, discussing your background, and opening up a safe, compassionate space where you can share your current struggles and hopes for growth. After establishing our spiritual foundation, we will take a practical look at your everyday life to understand how your mind and body are working together. God designed us as whole beings, so our spiritual health is deeply connected to our physical habits. Together, we will gently examine your daily routines—such as sleep patterns, nutrition, movement, stress management, and media consumption—to identify any underlying habits that may be negatively affecting your mental and physical health. By the end of this initial session, you will leave with a clear, collaborative roadmap for our time together. We will merge the evidence-based tools of CBT with the transformative power of discipleship, learning to take thoughts captive and align your daily rhythms with God's design. This session is the first step toward breaking unhealthy cycles, building life-giving daily habits, and walking in the fullness of who Christ called you to be.
Strengths
I have always been one to "say it like it is". I won't say that I have not embarrassed my family or friends at such times. But I will say that I am not afraid to talk about the things that others feel uncomfortable talking about. Nothing surprises me and nothing is off the table in what we can and cannot speak about. I like talking REAL! Whether you are navigating a traumatic experience, struggling with anxiety, or looking to align your mental health with your faith, I am here to walk alongside you. In our work together, we will look at mental health through the framework of discipleship with Christ creating a faith-forward plan to help you thrive in mind, body, and spirit. We will also explore how daily physical habits, such as what we eat and how we move, impact your overall well-being.
Ideal clients
Do you love Jesus with all your heart, but still find yourself drowning in anxiety, depression, and insecurity? You are not alone. When we lose sight of our true identity in Christ, the strain always shows up in our closest relationships. Maybe you are struggling to see others through a lens of grace and truth, or maybe the anxiety has followed you into the bedroom, causing you to struggle with intimacy with your spouse. If you love God but feel stuck in your mental health and your relationships, I created this space specifically for you.
Treatment methods
Christian Counseling
In my therapy practice, I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with biblical principles to help clients recognize and replace destructive, untruthful thought patterns with the unchanging truth of God’s Word. By pairing evidence-based cognitive restructuring with Christian counseling and intentional discipleship, clients learn to align their core beliefs about themselves with what Scripture declares to be true. Ultimately, this holistic approach transforms their minds and deepens their faith, empowering them to walk confidently in their true identity in Christ.
