I'm Paige Whitten, a Licensed Professional Counselor. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working in community mental health, completing assessments and evaluations, providing support in school settings, inpatient settings, and now working in private practice. This varied experience has given me a well-rounded perspective on mental health and a deep appreciation for meeting people where they are, whether that's navigating diagnoses, supporting young people through developmental challenges, or helping adults create meaningful change in their lives. I work primarily from a person-centered perspective, which means I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. I also incorporate EMDR therapy, particularly for clients working through trauma, anxiety, or distressing memories.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is really about getting to know each other. There's no pressure to dive into your deepest struggles right away if you're not ready. Here's what typically happens: We'll start by making sure you feel comfortable. I'll ask what brought you to therapy and what you're hoping to get out of our work together. You can share as much or as little as feels right. Some people come with a clear issue they want to address; others just know something feels off. Both are completely valid.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My approach is warm, genuine, and collaborative. I will aim to help you tap into your own wisdom and strengths. I believe deeply in the power of the therapeutic relationship itself to facilitate healing and growth. I bring my whole self to this work because I believe authentic connection is what makes therapy truly transformative.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Whether you're facing a specific challenge or simply feeling like something needs to change, I'm here to walk alongside you in that journey. If you're looking for a therapist who will truly listen, accept you as you are, and support you in becoming who you want to be, I'd be honored to work with you.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I utilize EMDR when needed or requested, which can be helpful for traumatic or distressing experiences. EMDR is based on the idea that traumatic or disturbing memories can get "stuck" in your brain in an unprocessed state, causing you to re-experience the emotions, physical sensations, and beliefs from the original event. EMDR helps your brain reprocess these memories so they become less distressing and more integrated with your other life experiences.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In our sessions together, I practice what's called person-centered or humanistic therapy. What this means in practical terms is that I see you as the expert on your own life and experiences. I create a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. I trust that you have the capacity to find your answers and direction when given the right support. I listen deeply and try to understand your world from your perspective, not mine. I'll aim to help you explore your experiences more fully and gain clarity about what you're feeling and what matters to you.
