My name is Jaime Gaudet and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and Art Therapist.
In my free time I enjoy walking in nature, spending time with my family, making art and traveling.
First session
The first session is an intake session. This session is about gathering information about you and figuring out some general goals. In the first session I ask a lot of questions about you and your background.
Strengths
My therapeutic approach is eclectic and I try to incorporate a variety of coping strategies that I have learned and practiced over the years.
Ideal clients
My treatment focus areas are anxiety and depression. Under this umbrella the range of different problems can vary. My treatment approach is eclectic. I can incorporate art therapy into sessions, per request, however this is optional. I help clients by identifying problems and working on ways to achieve their goals. Working together we can change behavior and mindset.
Treatment methods
Person-centered (Rogerian)
As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I utilize an eclectic, integrative approach to counseling that incorporates evidence-based practices and creative therapeutic techniques to meet the unique needs, goals, and experiences of each client. I recognize that every individual is different, and I tailor my interventions to support each client's emotional, psychological, and personal growth. Using a person-centered approach I use positive psychology to promote self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and meaningful change. I'm also an art therapist and I can incorporate art therapy techniques, as needed.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize CBT techniques to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, recognize the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and develop healthier coping strategies. This approach encourages clients to build practical skills that support improved emotional regulation and everyday functioning. I use motivational interviewing strategies to explore ambivalence, strengthen intrinsic motivation, and empower clients to identify their own reasons for change. Through collaboration, reflective listening, and open-ended questions, I support clients in clarifying their values, identifying personal goals, and developing confidence in their ability to make meaningful changes.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I incorporate solution-focused techniques to help clients identify their strengths, recognize existing resources, and develop practical strategies for achieving their therapeutic goals. Rather than focusing exclusively on problems or past difficulties, I guide clients in exploring their preferred future, identifying exceptions to challenges, and recognizing times when they have successfully managed similar situations. Through techniques such as the miracle question, scaling questions, and goal-oriented conversations, I help clients identify achievable steps toward positive change. This approach empowers clients to build on their successes, strengthen self-efficacy, and recognize their capacity to create meaningful change in their lives.
