About me

My career began with a strong community focus, including service at the first free health clinic dedicated to supporting the HIV-impacted community and early work in community mental health. In my 28 years of clinical experience I have maintained a child and family-centered approach while broadening my expertise across a wide range of settings, including inpatient residential care, hospital social work, nephrology, crisis and trauma counseling for children and adults, military social work, and academia. My practice includes supporting individuals through transitions, grief, depression, chronic pain, and complex social service needs. I hold postgraduate training in social welfare and psychology, which has enriched my skills and informed my integrative, client-centered approach aimed at fostering resilience and healing.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental space where your comfort and safety are my top priorities. We’ll begin by getting to know each other, discussing what brings you to therapy, and exploring your goals, concerns, and any previous experiences with counseling. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your background and current needs, but we’ll move at your pace—there’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with. This initial conversation is also a chance for you to ask questions and get a sense of how I work, so we can begin building a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship tailored to support your healing and growth.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

The deep sense of compassion, kindness, and empathy I bring to each session. I strive to create a warm and supportive environment where clients feel truly seen and accepted. I believe in the healing power of human connection and meet each person with genuine care, curiosity, and respect. My style is relational and collaborative, and I use an eclectic blend of therapeutic methods tailored to your unique needs and goals. I also believe that therapy doesn't always have to be heavy—when appropriate, I incorporate humor to bring lightness, build connection, and support resilience. My clients often share that they feel deeply supported, gently challenged, and empowered to make meaningful change in their lives.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to support clients who are navigating life transitions, coping with grief or loss, managing chronic pain or illness, or experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm. Many of the individuals I work with are seeking a compassionate, collaborative space where they can feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward. My approach resonates with clients who value insight, personal growth, and a desire to make meaning of their experiences. Whether facing long-standing challenges or new life stressors, my clients are often ready to engage in a therapeutic process that honors their strengths, supports healing, and encourages lasting change.

Eclectic

As an eclectic therapist, I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches to best meet the unique needs of each individual I work with. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all method to healing, and I thoughtfully integrate techniques from modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, strengths-based practice, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. My goal is to create a flexible, client-centered space where individuals feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore their experiences and move toward meaningful change. By tailoring my approach to each person’s goals, values, and strengths, I strive to promote healing, growth, and resilience.
