Jessica Schrote
Motherhood can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming, exhausting, and isolating. Between managing the needs of your family, navigating changes in your marriage or relationships, and trying to maintain a sense of yourself, it's easy to feel like you're constantly giving to everyone else with little left for yourself. I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with 12 years of experience helping individuals navigate anxiety, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I have a particular interest in supporting women through the complexities of motherhood, marriage, and balancing their own emotional needs with the demands of family life.
I combine evidence-based methods like CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy with a compassionate, person-centered style, helping clients use their own strengths to create meaningful and lasting change.
Whether you're struggling with the mental load of parenting, feeling disconnected from your partner, experiencing resentment or burnout, or simply trying to figure out who you are outside of being a mom, therapy can provide a space to work through these challenges. My approach is warm, honest, and collaborative. I combine evidence-based strategies with a deeper exploration of the patterns, expectations, and experiences that influence how you navigate relationships and everyday life. Together, we'll work toward helping you feel more confident, connected, and fulfilled—not just as a mother or partner, but as an individual.
First session
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and better understand what brought you to therapy. We'll explore what's been feeling difficult, whether that's the demands of motherhood, relationship stress, anxiety, or simply feeling overwhelmed by everything on your plate. I recognize that it can be difficult to prioritize yourself when you're used to taking care of everyone else. My goal is to create a comfortable, judgment-free space where you can be honest about your experiences, including the parts of motherhood and relationships that aren't always easy to talk about. Together, we'll identify your goals and begin exploring practical ways to help you feel more balanced and supported.
Strengths
I focus on getting to the root of challenges rather than just addressing surface-level symptoms. I combine evidence-based methods like CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy with a compassionate, person-centered style, helping clients use their own strengths to create meaningful and lasting change.
Ideal clients
I especially enjoy working with women navigating the complexities of motherhood, marriage, and balancing the many responsibilities of everyday life. Many of my clients are mothers who appear to have everything together on the outside but internally feel overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, or disconnected from themselves. You may find yourself carrying most of the mental load at home, struggling to communicate your needs to your partner, feeling resentful about unequal responsibilities, or constantly putting yourself last. You might love your family deeply while also missing the person you were before becoming a mother. Perhaps you're managing a career, raising young children, and trying to maintain a healthy relationship, but feel like there's never enough time or energy for yourself. I also enjoy working with women experiencing high-functioning anxiety, perfectionism, difficulty setting boundaries, and relationship challenges. I help clients better understand the patterns contributing to their stress, develop healthier communication and coping strategies, and reconnect with their own needs, values, and identity.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients recognize patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to anxiety, perfectionism, guilt, and stress. For mothers who feel pressure to do everything or struggle to prioritize their own needs, CBT can help challenge unrealistic expectations, reduce self-criticism, and develop healthier ways of managing daily responsibilities and emotional demands.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients identify practical changes that can make everyday life feel more manageable. Whether you're navigating parenting stress, unequal household responsibilities, or communication challenges in your relationship, we'll build on your strengths and identify realistic steps toward creating a healthier balance.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is helpful to help clients recognize and express the emotions that shape their relationships. Rather than focusing solely on surface issues, the approach emphasizes strengthening emotional bonds and fostering secure connections. EFT is valued for its ability to promote deeper understanding, healing, and lasting change in how individuals relate to themselves and others.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up authentically without judgment or expectations. For mothers who spend much of their time caring for others, I aim to provide a space where the focus is entirely on you. We'll explore your experiences, needs, and goals at your own pace while working toward greater self-understanding, confidence, and personal fulfillment.
