I’m Dr. Nwabu, a Licensed Professional Counselor who believes that healing begins when you have a safe space to slow down, be honest with yourself, and reconnect with who you are. My practice is grounded in the belief that you already carry wisdom within you, and my role is to help you access it with greater clarity, compassion, and confidence. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, identity, self-worth, and the emotional demands of leadership and everyday life. My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and centered on the whole person. Depending on your needs, our work may include mindfulness, somatic awareness, reflection, emotional regulation, and practical strategies for creating meaningful change. I strive to create a therapeutic environment where you can show up authentically, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. My guiding philosophy is simple: You Hold the Answers, I Hold the Space™.

First session

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin creating a safe, comfortable foundation for our work together. We will talk about what brought you to therapy, what you have been experiencing, and what you would like to be different in your life. You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what to say or where to begin. I will guide the conversation while giving you space to share at your own pace. We may explore important relationships, past experiences, current stressors, coping strategies, and the areas of your life where you would most like support. Together, we will begin identifying your goals for therapy and discussing an approach that feels meaningful and manageable for you. My hope is that you leave your first session feeling heard, understood, and clearer about what our work together can look like.

Strengths

One of the greatest strengths I bring to therapy is my ability to create a space that feels both safe and honest. I am warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental, while also helping clients look beneath the surface and explore the patterns, beliefs, relationships, and experiences that may be influencing how they feel today. My approach is collaborative rather than prescriptive. I do not believe therapy should feel like someone telling you how to live your life. Instead, I help you slow down, become more curious about yourself, recognize patterns, and identify choices that feel authentic to who you are becoming. I also bring a whole-person perspective to my sessions. Along with traditional therapeutic approaches, I may incorporate mindfulness, somatic awareness, spirituality when meaningful to the client, and practical tools for managing emotions and navigating real-life challenges. Clients often benefit from my ability to balance reflection with practical action. We can explore where something comes from while also asking an equally important question: What would you like to do differently now? My goal is for you to leave therapy knowing yourself more deeply, trusting yourself more fully, and feeling increasingly equipped to create the life and relationships you want.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who is ready to better understand themselves, their patterns, and the experiences that have shaped how they move through the world. They may be navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, major life transitions, burnout, self-worth concerns, or simply feeling disconnected from who they are. They do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. In fact, many of the people I work best with come in knowing that something needs to change, even if they are not yet sure what that change looks like. I especially enjoy working with clients who are open to reflection and willing to explore the deeper layers of their experiences with honesty and curiosity. They may be learning how to set healthier boundaries, trust themselves again, heal from past relationships, reconnect with their identity, or create more peace and balance in their lives. My ideal client wants therapy to be more than simply managing symptoms. They are interested in understanding themselves more deeply, developing practical tools, and creating lasting changes that help them feel more grounded, confident, and aligned with the life they want to live.

Treatment methods

Strength-Based

I use a strength-based approach by helping clients recognize the resilience, wisdom, and personal strengths they already carry, even when they may not be able to see them clearly for themselves. Rather than focusing only on what is wrong or what needs to be fixed, I help clients explore what has helped them survive, adapt, grow, and keep moving forward. We look at past challenges, not only for the pain they created, but also for evidence of courage, resourcefulness, self-awareness, and inner strength. In sessions, I may help clients identify personal values, healthy coping skills, supportive relationships, previous successes, and qualities they can draw upon as they work toward change. I also encourage clients to recognize the moments when they have trusted themselves, set boundaries, made difficult decisions, or chosen something healthier for their lives. My role is not to tell clients who they should become. It is to help them reconnect with who they already are, strengthen trust in themselves, and use their existing strengths to create meaningful change. This approach closely reflects my therapeutic philosophy: You Hold the Answers, I Hold the Space™.
